nothing you ever read, watch, or participate in will be ideologically pure and without its problems. your quest to consume the most unproblematic material will be, in the end, fruitless. your enjoyment of anything will be sapped away, leaving you a husk starved for media.

 it is okay to enjoy things that have problems to them, so long as you do it critically and with an open mind, and take care to consider others.

Remember however that “problematic” is not a homogenous category, and “everything is a little bit problematic” should not be used to elide the differences between media which maybe has some unfortunate implications if you think about it, and media which outright promotes hatred.  “It’s okay to enjoy your problematic fave” means very different things depending on whether the problematicity in question is a thoughtless comment in an interview from 2004, or multiple sexual assaults.

This isn’t necessarily to say that you should purge yourself of anything, even really bad things, but your critical relationship with it needs to acknowledge what the actual problems are, not just a vague sense of “yeah it’s problematic.”
