For 10 days, a group of Maymester students experienced Renaissance masterpieces in Florence and architectural marvels in Rome, all while a new pope was being inaugurated.

Rising senior Jenna Pittman, a Political Science researcher committed to building community as a Servant Scholar, will bring her passion for public service to Washington, D.C., where she will intern this summer with a committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Junior Meredith Orton, who takes the lead on the volleyball court and in the classroom, scored an opportunity to participate in Emory University’s Research Experience for Undergraduates summer program, funded by the National Science Foundation.

Over the next 15 years, more than half of current U.S. pilots will have reached the mandatory retirement age of 65. As pilots start to retire, the college is doing its part to help with the shortage by offering an aviation minor.

While sites like Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon have the luxury of being protected from threats of infrastructure development and mining, others like Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp are at risk. To help the landmark become a World Heritage Site, LC Political Science students gathered data they shared with advocates at the state and federal level.
