Thank you @winter-of-tomorrow for the tag. Definitely not a Wednesday I'm posting this on but oh well haha.

Okay so not a Scarred Verso snippet today. Im actually flipping between two fics, one is Scarred Verso and the other is a Mer Verstave Mating fic. So enjoy the snippet!

Gustave forced himself to keep the blistering pace he had set, he was almost at the edge of the drop-off. He just needed to make it over and into the Kelp Forest and he'd have more chances to hide and continue the hunt.

"My love," Verso sang, "My Gustave. You know I'm going to catch you. Why wear yourself out before I've gotten a chance to touch you? Come here my little shark. Give in. You know you want to."

Gustave swallowed back his desire even as his swam harder, determined to make it to the Kelp Forest. Finally, he reached the ledge and launched himself over. The Kelp Forest was within view, he just needed a few more minutes and he would be able to lose Verso in it.

He barely had time to register Verso's low, dark laughter before he felt something slam into his back and sent them tumbling into the long kelp. Gustave thrashed and struggled as he tried to free himself from the arms that had locked around his narrow waist. The grip held tight however, refusing to give him an inch of freedom. His clawed hands reached back to try and scratch at the body that was pushing him into the kelp and soft sand of the ocean floor, but his claws scraped uselessly against the hard scales of Verso's tail.

As Gustave continued to try and struggle, Verso's mouth brushed up against ear, sharp teeth nibbled lightly as he whispered, "Now now, little mate. I caught you, why keep fighting? You know you're not going to get free. You're all mine to enjoy now." His tongue traced the pointed edge of Gustave's ear, as a clawed hand slid up his chest to lightly grasp at Gustave's throat, forcing a gasp to leave his lips.
