Making these new connections is incredible and fantastic, and Amy Hennig deserves literally the world for her work on the series.

there are moments you take out from BO1 in their individual moments and extrapolate, educationally, to come to more detailed conclusions and i adore that.

What was said in BO1 doesn’t necessarily matter, as the young Kain is arrogant and missing a lot of context for the world around him at the time. What's important is the ripples across the timelines. Raziel's interferences, Kain's own machinations and Moebius' fuckery.

Kain goes to visit vorador in the termogent (black) forest.

Remember that at this point, Vorador thinks he is the last vampire, due to Moebius and Mortanius' hunting parties. He is let down by Kain. Vorador takes a moment to indulge himself and show off. Immediately falls into morbid depression when Kain leaves, completely unaware that the Heart of Darkness he has been searching for 500years for, is right in front of him, as well as probably concluding that the young kain is arrogant and unlikely to live up to his hopes of vampiric greatness.

Raziel shows up, and Vorador has met him previously (SR2 timeline- the dark reaver temple). Vorador is waiting to die. He has chosen the tomb of Janos Audron as his final stand.

Raziel reminds Vorador that he has forgotten the significance of Kain. Vorador more or less handwaves this away.

"Ah yes, Kain. I fear he shoulders a greater burden than he realises"

It's unclear if vorador is aware that Kain is the current guardian of balance, or if he means as the only other vampire- soon to be the last, as Vorador has accepted his own coming death as an inevitability.

Yes, kain might be the only other surviving vampire in Nosgoth, but he (kain) hasn't got the context for why he (kain) is so important.

The way it took me so off guard and I was just genuinely staring at/listening to it like:...... ???? ʕ⁠ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ⁠ʔ.....?!?!?!????

Because the vibes were messing with me so much. I couldn't take it seriously, and was just like.... why does it feel..... Is this.... Why is this. gay? Uhh--

Still chipping away at this, but felt like posting a snippet cuz I'm happy with how much progress I've made up until now. Still a lot to rework and do but enjoy~

what learning fandom history is like

Rahab tried to keep the conversation on track. But his fellow brothers were easily distracted by their different opinions on trivial subjects. Kain forbid infighting between them but that did not guarantee that they could work together. Even if it was an important topic they should work on resolving.

"Ugh, we should rally the soldiers for a quick ambush and force them into submission."

Dumah, of course. He was indeed a great strategist but the longer this went on the less attention he paid to their obstacles.

He wasn't wrong per se. It was a possibility how they could work this out. But hell they were low on fledglings and soldiers in general. Even with their followers combined their forces weren't what they once were. As Kain forbade his 6 lieutenants to fight amongst themselves they tended to have their fledglings do their fighting. And that slowly but surely showed.

There weren't usually problems so big that they needed to come together. Eternity was boring and fights contributed to their sparse entertainment.

"As much as I hate to agree with Dumah here..." It sounded like it cost Turel a lot to admit this. "This could actually be a decent solution."

"If this is the best we can do, this fucking meeting could have been a fucking scroll with a multiple choice selection!"

"If you don't sit your arse back down, Zephon, I swear on Kain's name you'll regret it! Nothing you have contributed has brought us any further!"

It was rare for Melchiah to have an outburst like this in front of the whole group. Their dispute were usually fought out in a more private setting. That meant even the youngest lieutenants nerves where irritated.

None of the others spoke up against him though. Only Zephon grumbled something unintelligibly.

Raziel took the opportunity to speak up. He had an idea and no idea if it would work but he also lacked any interest of spending more time in this room and listening to his brothers bickering.

"The South side is their weak spot. It's up against the river. They don't expect an attack there. Dumah, Melchiah, you keep them occupied on the North side. Zephon, your fledglings are the most nimble, have them check out the wall. Rahab, if Zephon finds anything, you will work on getting the wall open. Turel and I will move in with our armies and open the gates for everyone else."

His brothers gave varied reaction but Raziel rose without listening to any of them. Kain's oldest had spoken. On his way out, he gave the others one las look over his shoulder.

When Bog places the flower into Marianne's hair, he strokes the long point of her ear with his index. It bounces back a wee bit when he removes his finger. But that's not all...

When he shifts that paw, her collar performs that same, tiny bounce. Some of those curled fingers were behind it. Whilst the plant fabric doesn't cling to her skin, due to the immensity and length of his digits they must have been touching her neck and hair.

But there's more! He brushes the bare skin between her shoulder and the collar when he withdraws his paw. Again there's a minuscule impact. And what that thumb does...

This physical endearment grants her after-reaction more meaning. She's trailing her digits along the path of his caress, showing how much she relished it.

This "feeling Bog's touch" effect isn't the first of its ilk either. When their hands clack together at "I never trust anybody!", she brushes the exact spot that connected with his skin with her right. Another wee instant easy to overlook.

Whilst an utter dork lord, I love how Bog doesn't blench at caressing Marianne in this semi-secluded setting. It's utterly different from the pressure of the raucous audience of several species at the end, which furthermore includes the Fairy King.
