So while I do entirely agree with this, my friend who is working to be a cartoonist and had to study this quite a bit brought up the very plausible theory that the reason they made grim white as a human even though he is Jamacian was because the animators wanted to avoid any confrontation of being pegged as racists for having the all powerful grim reaper being owned by two little white children. While this is just speculation, he said that, had grim been native Hawaiian or Navajo or Puerto Rican of decent he would have been very hurt or upset and offended that this powerful entity that branded his nationality was enslaved to two white children. He knows his mom would have never let him watch a show that mocked his heritage in such a way.

While I dont like how they went about making grim white, I can understand why they would not want any race issues thrown their way and not want a lawsuit filed or have that episode or even entire show banned. Sometimes you gotta step back and think for a bit.
