NO!! NO REVENGE!! I'M ONLY BEING A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND đđ
AND THIS IS A CUTE REVENGE DONâT WORRY:
Maria pushes herself away from the window sill, jumping out of her skin when she hears his voice
A curse leaves her lips the moment she turns to face him. âJesus Christ! Will you stop doing your sneaky-fae thingy for one second? Almost killed me this time.â
Aidan chuckles. âEverybody hears me but you.â
âEverybody here is not human.â
He grins apologetically, and crosses the room to her, seeing what she was seeing
âYouâre meddling,â he repeats, giving her a warning look, but full of playfulness
âIâm not meddling,â she says to him, looking down at the pair sitting in the garden. âIâm justâŚbeing a good friend.â
âLeave them be, my love. It is better if we do not get in between.â
âIâm not,â she insists, sighing. âYou canât blame me for worrying.â
Aidan gives her a smile. âDo you really think itâs worth worrying? Were you worried when we first began-â
âThat was diferent,â MarĂa interrupts, giving him a look. âThe mating bond wasnât thrown onto me like that. I fell in love with you before I ever knew that there was ever a deeper connection. It might not be like that for you, and the fae, but us humans donâtâŚfeel like you. It can be frightening. And it is.â
Aidanâs face softens, rid of its previous playfulness. He pulls his mate into his arms, gently swaying her from side to side. âWere you scared?â
MarĂa sighs once more, relaxing into him. âYes,â she says truthfully. âI was terrified.â
He touches his lips to her head, then rested his chin on her shoulder. âTell me. Help me understand.â
She pauses, hands touching his on her stomach. âWhen I first saw you,â she begins, âI thought I knew you. I was ready to shout your name before I pullef you into that sidewalk. Then I realized that I did not know it. That I didnât know you. It was such a strange feeling. And then, when you stayed with me, it always felt so electrifying being around you. When I began feeling strongly towards you, it just felt like an avalanche. The worst thing in the world was when you left. For days, my mind couldnât think of anything else but you. And your voice, and your eyes, and everything. I didnâtâŚI didnât know what to do with myself. And you know how much i like to be my own person. And to suddenly feel like thatâŚâ
Softly, she touches his hand, and leads it to her lips. âI wanted you, yes. But us humansâŚwe cannot fathom feeling so much. Sometimes I feel like my heart is going to burst. Thatâs scary. Knowing you are meant for someone, and that someone is meant for youâŚitâs a wonderful feeling, but itâs also a perfect glass statue that youâre terrified youâre gonna shatter.â
He slowly turns her to him, looking into her eyes. âDoes it frighten you still?â
âSometimes,â she says, wrapping her arms around his neck. âBut most of the time, Iâm justâŚblissfully happy.â
âCrazy fae instincts and everything?â He grins
She chuckles, touching her lips to his in a brief kiss. âI love the fae instincts.â
âYou do?â He pulls away, eyes wide
âWellâŚI would rather not have you glare at every person who accidentally brushes against me-â
âThat male proposefully walked into you-â
âAidan, sweetheart, you do not show your fangs to the humans, they shit themselves.â
âHe deserved it,â he says
MarĂa chuckles, touching his cheeks. âYou mean well, I know it.â
He smiles, leaning down to kiss her, but stops a breath away. âI do.â
Aidan kisses the corner of her mouth, pulls her close, and they kiss once more
Long and sweet, taking her breath away
Afterwards he touches his forehead to hers; breathing the same air
They stay in silence for a while, until Aidan murmurs. âDo you ever imagine what life is going to be like in a few years?â
MarĂa smiles. âSometimes. Why?â
He pauses, and MarĂa sees him hesitate
âWhat?â She says, touching his cheek. âGo on, tell me.â
Aidan takes a breath. âDo you find yourselfâŚhere?â
MarĂa seems to freeze. âIn Velaris? Forever?â
âAidanâŚâ she pauses, touching both his cheeks. âI love you. But I also canâtâŚdisappear. I have family. Friends. People who would call me insane if they knew who you actually were.â
He nods. âI understand, IâŚâ he pauses. âBut you can share a life with me, canât you?â
She smiles tenderly. âOf course I can.â
âWhen you come here,â he says, âmaybe you can come to our home.â
She blinks. âYou got a house?â
He smiles, tracing her jaw with his thumb. âI have a place of my own from now on. A place you and me can share, everytime you come here. I will be part of your life, but I would never wish for you to leave behind your own. So whenever you want - you have a place. Here. With me.â
MarĂa closes her eyes momentarily, her heart colourful. Then, she touches her lips to his, and murmurs. âThank you.â And then: âAnd you have a place with me. In my world.â
He smiles, âYou want to share your home with me?â
MarĂa shrugs. âEh, might as well.â
âMight as well?â He asks, cocking his head to the side. âWell, then, my darling. We might as well start preparing a wedding.â
âDo NOT even joke about it. I will NOT be married in my 20s.â
Aidsn shrugs, and gives her a dashing smirk. âI will keep trying.â
