Hmm. I don't think that's entirely talking about how William and Sherlock understand each other. This is like. Supportive person who listens to you and understands you. He talks to John a lot more than he does William, and John is really his confidant in a way William isn't.

Which is not to say Sherlock and William don't understand each other and know each other much better now than they did before NYC--Sherlock had a very long soliloquy about William's character in part two, after all, and how he feels about it, and a few comments even after their return to London in part one about it.

But William is currently not a person he turns to to talk through his thoughts and goes to for emotional/intellectual support, because our favorite married couple is for the time being Very Separated.

In the course of part two so far, in so far as their roles in the story, William has not been acting in a similar role to John, and these character profiles are there to give you an indication of the narrative scenario.

Idk japanese (I'm intending to learn) so I went off english translations by people.It showed the only one who 'can' which is what was weird to me cause he ain't the only one who can.

Discrepancy due to translation errors will be the death of me someday I swear. On the bright side,at least we got "feeling a bond beyond friendship with the lord of crime" with sherlock.

Hyper, I adore you deeply, but Sherlock's chat with Fred about Liam is fully 13 pages long, and I am Not diagramming all of that. It's like half of the chapter. And frankly, it would be hard to follow. I started doing some of it and didn't even get halfway through the meaty bits before I went. "No, there's no way."

But basically.

This is all internal dialogue from Sherlock, by the way.

Sherlock thinks about how everyone is thinking of William with good intentions, but "William" and "The Lord of Crime" are inextricably bound to each other. And via good intentions for Liam, they're binding "William" even further.

Like he's literally using "William" and "Lord of Crime" in quotes, and Liam is not accompanied by them. Liam is the essence of who the person is, to Sherlock. William is one part of him, and The Lord of Crime is also part of it, but Liam is more than both.

(I think, at this point, it's interesting to bring up the fact that, strictly speaking, from birth, Liam wasn't William. Like the Lord of Crime, it was a persona he took on for his needs)

Sherlock wanted to ask Liam if Liam is okay with this situation, but decided it was a meaningless question that didn't matter and bit it back.

And that, from a practical standpoint, this is for the best. Sinners/criminals don't get to live unobstructed free lives, and this is how best to keep Liam safe. And he had also thought that as long as Liam was alive, it was...fine.

But. This isn't the Liam he wants to see. This isn't what he wants Liam to look like.

What he likes. What he wants to see.

Is the person who commits crimes for the happiness of others, the person who pushes forward alone to spare his friends, the person who completely ignores Sherlock's advice to stay inside and wanders the streets, the person who rushed into danger to save his friend.

A man who isn't tied down by anything.

And then he brings up their vows from Vermissa. How he swore to Liam that they would face their sins and live on together.

And now, if only a little, he wants to be able to give Liam some of that freedom back.

And then his quiet contemplation gets interrupted by Fred being like "Look, I think William's safety is of the utmost importance, and keeping the knowledge of his survival secret is a top priority...but I really want to meet your William. So we are going to figure this out."

So, Sherlock loves Liam so, so deeply, and all the most deeply unhinged parts of him. And he wants to take the hinges off that lock box again, even if Liam, as he's Liaming about this, has decided to sit in the goddamn box.

But he doesn't say he loves him.

Anyway, Sherlock just wants to let Liam be Liam!

As usual, sharing the redraw 💪🏽 I like taking old art I’ve drawn and trying again. It’s really fun to see what skills I’ve learned and what has generally stayed the same.

And like why the hell did they cut so much sherliam.I expected them to cut scenes of course and I love the anime but like even the scene they gave up a lot of dialog, especially the night william comes to visit sherlock

It's like they cut the gayness right out.😭😭

I was actually just talking about this with @user-needs-new-hyperfixation a few days ago.

Something very important to remember about the Moriarty the Patriot anime is that it began in October 2020.

The Final Problem arc of the Moriarty the Patriot manga (Japanese version) ended in March 2021.

After having double checked some dates: the second cour of the anime picked up like. Almost the exact same day The Final Problem manga arc ended.

Anime cours and episodes take months to make.

They literally did not know what they did not know.

The night William came to visit Sherlock? Happened after the anime started.

Obviously some things got adjusted after the manga finally caught up and the anime pivoted a little. But especially in the first half, and considering how fast they would have had to write and re-write scripts, have them animated, voiced, and airing...well.

I think we do unfortunately have to give them some slack. They had literally only a couple months of lead time and also some of the earlier manga to also work on while they were pivoting.

Sherliam are and always have been gay as hell for each other, but I don't think it would be totally unfair to have cut that back...until that night in Sherlock's apartment, and when we got that letter, at which point, basically or all of cour one had already aired.

They didn't know MI6 was going to be so important. They didn't know Sherlock was about to jump off a bridge for William. They didn't know.
