Happy release day!! 💕💕💕 I loved this! A regency retelling of the story of Peter Pan and his lost boys we follow the story through the eyes of Wendy. Set in real life with a darker twist I was thoroughly entranced and finished the book in one sitting. I was grabbed immediately and couldn’t put it down. I loved how the author took a well known story and made it their own, with a grownup twist. A sweet romance with friends and the family we choose. If you like action, pirates, good overcoming evil, and a touch of romance then this book is for you. This was a really fun read and I couldn’t put it down. We follow Molly as she cleans at the Grand Regency hotel and she does really well at it as she has an obsession with keeping things clean and tidy. When she stumbles across the dead body of one of their rich guests while cleaning she is pulled into the drama of the mystery. Her odd behaviour makes her a suspect and she is in a race against time to find the true killer and prove her innocence. I loved how she had friends she didn’t even realize she had and how they came forward to help her in her time of need. I love the Cormoran Strike novels. The interpersonal relationships are amazingly well done and get expanded upon with each book. The ability of Cormoran and Robin to delve into a 40 year old mystery and uncover things long since forgot was amazing. With many of the people involved long since dead they were still able to puzzle out what had happened and were able to solve the mystery while at the same time solving many others. Their skills are definitely getting better. I have to say, I just love his writing. It’s sucks me in every time. This was a story of love, loss, regret, and death. It made me feel all the emotions. I cried at parts, struggled to hold it together, and laughed at others. It’s a story of life and all it’s choices and how we come to terms with them in the end. All of us experience death in one form or another and all of us will die in the end as none of us get out of this game called life. We can face death with fear, anger, denial, and hopelessness or we can accept it, understand it, and see it for what it is…the continuation of our journey, whatever may be on the other side. If I could recommend a book to anyone going through loss and grieving it would be this one. It was a beautiful and poignant story with depth of feeling and understanding. I loved it. Wow! This was amazing. This story starts out with a bang and hooks you right off the bat. I could not put this down and finished the whole thing in less than a day. Like a twisted sleeping beauty retelling mixed with A Court of Thorns and Roses vibes we have a sleeping Princess Thorne that awakes after a hundred years and must try and wake the rest of her kingdom after a curse went awry. Thorne is no princess that needs saving. I loved that about her. She was strong, brave, resourceful, and stops at nothing to protect those she loves. Amazing! I was in a huge reading slump and this book pulled me right out again. It was touching, heartwarming, and just plain lovely. We follow Linus, a caseworker for magical youth as he goes about his life, existing but not really living, until he’s sent on a top secret mission to an off the books orphanage. Little does he know that this place and the children there will change his life forever. Some of the children’s stories were heartbreaking but their resilience in the face of adversity was beautiful. We see Linus begin to question all the rules and regulations surrounding magic folk and come into his own. I was laughing, crying, and everything in between with this book. I know I’ve been MIA recently. I’ve had a lot going on in my life this past year and reading really fell to the wayside. I hit a serious readers block. I left an abusive relationship and moved out with my girls, started a new job, settled all things with the lawyers and my ex, started a new relationship with an amazing man, and bought a house. Last night I closed on the house. After many months of searching and many failed bids I finally found a home for my girls and I. There are renos to be done before we move in but now the fun starts. For all the ups and downs this year has given me much to be thankful for. For the first time in years I feel happy and hopeful. I’m going into the winter solstice and Capricorn season (I’m a Cap) with new hope and drive and I’m excited for the future. I wish for everyone to feel the same hope and excitement.
