Annie had completely shut herself off from the world the second the peacekeepers had snatched her out of District Four and dragged her wailing body onto a hovercraft plagued with a Capitol symbol. She hadnât had a clue as to what had been happening with the rebellion; for her own safety she had been left in the dark, completely oblivious to the changes that were coming, but that didnât make it easier. If anything, it made it scarier. Finnick mightâve been dead in the arena and then she was being separated from Ivory, too much had happened for her to handle and for the most part during the weeks she had been locked in the Capitol, she completely shut down and blocked everything out. Every now and then she would surface to whisper through the bars to Peeta, one half of the star crossed lovers who was as sweet as he appeared on television despite the constant torture she knew he was going through, though it was never long before thoughts of her love and sister filled her mind, or a peacekeeper was barking at her, and everything became too much again. At one point, her tattered sundress was stripped away and replaced by nothing but a sheet, but she was so far gone that even that barely registered until she was running for dear life towards Finnick in a District she had thought was blown to bits ages ago.
But then, suddenly, everything was okay. Dark cells were replaced by the greyness of District Thirteen, horrifying screams of torture that never stopped echoing through her ears being shushed and silenced by Finnickâs whispers in her ear telling her that it was okay, that she was safe now. She was alive, he was alive, Ivory was alive. Everyone was okay. They were together, and they were safe, and that was all that mattered whether she believed it was real or not. From that point on, nothing would separate them again. He was hers, and she was his. For good.
Doctors threw out a lot of words at them, about therapies and assessments and other things she paid no attention to, just like always when Doctors had spewed words at them. The only one she even slid her eyes over to look at was Mrs Everdeen or little Primrose, both of whom treated her like a person and not a patient that needed a long stay in the infirmary. They understood that right now being with her family was the best treatment and, with having enough on their plate with Peetaâs condition, left Finnick and Ivory in charge of showing her the ropes and settling her in. After a few days sheâd have to return for an assessment, but for now, they were free to hole up in the tiny room the two of them would now share if they so chose. And that was exactly what Annie wanted to do. The first day, as soon as she had been helped with getting dressed and released from the hospital wing of the District, she wanted to do nothing more than lie with Finnick and bask in the feeling of safety she knew neither of them had felt in a long, long while. From the moment she saw him she knew the last few months had been pure torture for him, as well, and asking if he just wanted to rest would have been silly when she already knew his answer.Â
âFinnick,â She whispered from her place in his arms to get his attention a good while later. One of her hands, forever shaky but dainty, reached up to brush his hair out of his eyes so she could take a second just to look at him. He looked different. Not the pretty, charming boy that would be dolled up for the Capitol, but her Finnick, only more exhausted. He seemed real, but he didnât smell like the sea. Nothing smelled like home here. âI canât believe youâre right here. You are here, right? Real?â They had so much to talk about, from what the hell had happened with the rebellion, to where they were, to what had happened with Mags, but it all seemed like too much to tackle. Maybe little bits would be better for them both.

When youâre not with me I feel homesick. Not because your shoulders resemble strong brick walls, not because your voice is like the soft hum of the radio on a Sunday morning, not because your chest is my pillow most nights. But because I feel safest when Iâm with you, and that should be how you feel when you are at home.
excerpt from a book iâll never write, 1Â (via sylviaplathwrites)
When youâre a young actor, thereâs this pressure to rush. But I hope to be doing this into my sixties and seventies, so Iâd prefer to take my time. Thereâs so much of a desire in the entertainment industry for newness, a desire to build somebody up and then treat them as old news within six months. I think youâd be naive if you didnât try to hold on to your own way of doing things.

It was very rare that the Cresta girls kept secrets from each other. Ivory could count on one hand the stuff she has kept from her sisterâsecrets that pretty much always eventually came out and only just made them stronger. It was why when Ivory realised Annie was hiding something from her, she didnât immediately force her to spill even though she really wanted to. She hated the thought of her sister keeping something from her. Â
Thatâs why when they were laying in bed together, she was trying to work out what it was. She was running away quickly, claiming to be going to see one of their closest friends but she knew she wasnât. She had heard a few times after these claims in the toilet throwing up. It happened multiple times after she has eaten as well. She knew sheâd been seeing Mrs Everdeen more as well. There was a few possibilities that Ivory could come up with but she was never going to know for real unless she came out and asked Annie and she was never going to do that. Annie would tell her when she was ready and she was okay with that.
Annie took her by surprise when she spoke up and she blushed a little. She hadnât meant to be staring at her sister so hard or even with a look when she was deep in thought but apparently she did. She let out a small chuckle before meeting her sisters eyes. âItâs nothing.â She said, giving her a small smile. She had accepted that Annie was going to tell her when she was ready and she was going to stick to that.
Finnick had to be the first one to know- well, the first person she told, since Mrs. Everdeen and Primrose already knew and gave her the biggest, sneakiest smiles whenever they saw her. It was all planned out in her head: he would come back from the Capitol, all rugged as soldiers were, with the news of liberation and freedom across the land, and she would jump up and into his arms just like the last time they were reunited and whisper her own news to him. It would be one of the happiest moments of their lives- since there were many, recently, it seemed- and then he would cry, and she would cry, and the happy tears would make their kisses salty like the sea. It would be perfect, and they would be able to return to their home in District Four that she hadnât seen in what felt like thirty eternities, with soon-to-be Auntie Iv and their newest little fishy at their sides.
âItâs not nothing, I know your nothing face,â She smiled herself. How would she have gotten through any of this without her? How would she have gotten through any part of her life, in general, without her? They had lost so many people, so many family members and friends that were basically family, leaving Ivory the only blood relative she had left, and even the thought of losing her made her panic.Â
Tilting her head to the side, her fingers pausing the twisting on her wedding ring, she asked, âWhat are you thinking? Something about me?â Did she know? Maybe she knew. How much did Ivory know about babies and pregnancy? Annie assumed she knew just as little as she did, and since Mrs. Everdeen was the one to basically explain how the next nine months were going to go, that was very little. The idea of Ivory knowing more, knowing the symptoms, hadnât occurred to her until right now. Finn wouldnât of cared if she told her, she told herself. If anything, heâd of probably expected her to. Her plan could still stand if he was second to know, not the first.
I whispered your name out to sea, hoping the tides would carry my voice and the currents would bring you back to me.
