Some pictures I took underwater from my latest visit to the river. This is the first time I snorkeled with a diving mask and a camera because while I love swimming I have always been very afraid of what I might see underwater (I have a mild form of submechanophobia). I finally did it this summer and it was wonderful!!

#my best memory from it is swimming over a rock with river grass and algae covering it #and as I moved my fins over it it was like wind blowing and the gras parted and swayed like hair. it was so amazing

Watching American's who are "impressed" and also confused by "little Albania" being ready to set the whole Trump family on fire is hillarious. This is a country that has a legend involving a promise that will pull you back from the grave to honor it.

This bug. This bug that, to most humans, is utterly useless, relatively gross, and completely foreign. Humans saved it because humans do not want to cause another extinction ever again if they can avoid it.

Oh my god, people talk all sorts of shit about what you should be careful about and what to expect in toddlers, like tantrums BUT nobody ever prepares you for the screaming. You'd be in your bed nice and cozy, reading a book or drinking tea and suddenly from the other room your baby screams a blood curling scream that belongs straight into a horror movie and you have to run to the room to see what happened. Like, it's genuine horror movies moment where you cannot help but fear what you might find when you open the door of the baby's room. And in reality, they are probably screaming because they are dreaming that someone took their potato and moved it 3 cm to the left.

I just finished my play through of In Other Waters and it is a game i will not soon forget. I think one of the best indicators of quality and love in a project is it's adherence to an artistic vision, it's own identity.

this is one of my favorite books of all time and i can't wait to go see the movie!!!! going today!!!!

#Played the movie for my husband and he lost his little mind #It has everything he loves which is space spaceships and cute creatures #I liked Eva Stratt because yes to morality dubious women willingly to do the necessary thing to save the planet while looking good in black

I swear toddlers will make you want to jump headfirst from a roof but also one kiss and you forgive them everything. They are also cartoon-villain level of comical. Today we went from our son stopping and waiting for a car to pass by before continuing on his balance bike to having to literally pull him back by his shirt while he stomped and tried to yank himself free so he can plunge down onto the road filled with speeding cars.

#When I say it was cartoon villain level of comical I mean it #He has a balance bike which he basically walks while sitting on the bike until he learns to balance it and starts pushing himself off #And he knows cars are dangerous and stops when he sees a car coming closer on the parking lot #But the moment he gets overtired and needs to nap and you just NOTICE IT #IT'S A SHITSHOW #suddenly barreling down on his bike onto a driving lane is the best and only idea he is capable of #Then he also does things like you ask him are you tired is it time to sleep #and he just ?? Walks out to the bathroom brushes his teeth and goes to sleep without any issues #He OBVIOUSLY likes sleeping but still #Or he calls you and says he's thirsty and usually it's a toddler trap not to sleep #but then you give him water and he just tosses himself face first on the mattress and continues sleeping as promised #But the next morning he will hate you from the moment he opens his eyes because you turned the light on the wrong way or something

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.
