Here are four roleplay plot ideas, inspired by songs from my seasonal playlist, particularly about ghosts & vampires.

HAMMER HORROR - Kate Bush Muse A was an actor, who died during the filming/production of something suitably spooky. Muse B has been cast as their replacement, but finds themselves haunted by visions of A. This plot could take place in a theatre or on a film set. Maybe even a spooky reality tv show, if you're really adventurous with it. Perhaps, you wish to include a co-star as Muse C, who would've known A. Maybe you wish to omit A as an active character and leave the reality of the spectre ambiguous. Is A a malicious or a tragic and benevolent spirit?

CLINT EASTWOOD - Gorillaz Muses A and B were always incredibly close, to the point where only death could separate them. Only, once A died, they decided to stick around with B as a ghost. Now sharing a body, A is able to possess B's body and provide their unique skillset beyond the grave, or use B's body as a vessel. Maybe B is a musician, and A provides vocal talents. Perhaps A was an incredible fighter, or an actor, or some just an amazing driver. Whatever it might be, death can't seem to separate this particular double act.

Decode - Paramore Muses A and B are caught in a game of romantic cat and mouse. A is human, and since they met the elusive and mysterious B, they've found themselves constantly drawn together. By putting up their own guards and walls, can A work out who and what B is? Or perhaps these walls will break down and they'll just make fools of themselves?

these are some ideas i’ve made for my muses, but i thought they’d be nice to share. feel free to reblog!

i. 𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐬 — muse a’s new coworker, muse b, has some interesting quirks like having an abnormal amount of knowledge about long forgotten ancient civilizations, a closet of only ivory or white vintage clothes, a strange speaking cadence, and knowing details about muse a’s life that almost no one else knows. they are starting to have suspicions that they might have a stalker, but in truth muse b is their guardian angel stepping in for divine intervention before they make the biggest mistake of their life.

ii. 𝐯𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 — muse a is a huge fan of muse b, a quickly rising new musician with a cult-like fanbase. which is why they can’t believe their luck when they are invited backstage by muse b after a concert. but upon meeting them, they notice things aren’t as they seem. muse b is beautiful, abnormally so, with an uncanny lifeless appearance typically obscured by the stage lights. muse a feels a growing sense of panic and for good reason, they’ve just put themselves on the radar of a vampire that has no intention to let them out of their sight from then on.

iii. 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐛𝐢 — muse a is a priest that has moved into a new city, known for strange supernatural events. they are hired as an exorcist for the only church in town. during one exorcism they accidentally bind themselves to muse b, a malignant spirit who’s entire existence revolves around hedonism. muse a now has an unwanted sidekick of sorts, an ancient being with endless knowledge about the underworld that could help them with the unique creatures they find in this new location. muse b’s ethos is opposed to muse a’s life of repression and religious devotion, and it becomes a test of whether the can resist the allure of sin and stay on their path.

childhood sweethearts (on the rocks)

a plot where muse a and muse b have been friends since childhood — here and there, they would have a one night stand, but never really allowed themselves to progress into anything more than just friends. now, as adults who are figuring out the dating scene isn’t as easy as their parents made it seem, muse a and muse b are seeing each other more and more frequently. eventually, muse a starts seeing someone new, and has less and less time for muse b. i’m talking jealousy, tension!!! muse b realizing maybe they’ve had feelings for muse a the whole time, muse a having to make tough decisions — either continue dating this new person or hurt muse b!!! i liiiiive for drama pls

childhood sweethearts (with a twist)

okay but a plot where close childhood friends reunite — except muse a was in love with muse b growing up, and muse b became muse a’s best friend’s high school sweetheart. muse a concealed their feelings for muse b all throughout their friendship, in high school & college, although both muses definitely had feelings & felt sparks for one another long before muse b started dating muse a’s best friend. despite the connection they’d felt, neither wanted to jeopardize any of the friendships between the three, and ultimately, muse b ended up married to muse a’s bff… except now, years later, muse a and muse b reunite at muse a’s best friend’s funeral. imagine the hurt of losing a loved one but having the comfort of yet another loved one?? blurred lines, tension, second-guesses…….

let me take care of you (southern charm)

okay so i’ve been kicking around a ranch hand plot where muse a is looking for help around the ranch they’ve just inherited due to a death in the family, and seeing as they’re just one person with lots of land, and virtually no knowledge on how to take care of it, it’s impossible to go it all on their own… enter muse b. muse b, a man who not only knows how to work the land but can take care of the ranch with ease, finds it impossible to not take care of muse a, while he's at it. just give me texan sunsets and lovers with low static music crooning in the background from some vinyl record please & ty

friends with benefits (with feelings)

a friends with benefits plot where muse a is dead-set, hellbent on not having a relationship and not getting too intimately involved with muse b; muse b has been in love with muse a for years, and muse a knows this, but still can’t bring themselves to get emotionally attached. i need tensionnnn and like, a lil toxicity ykwim??? for the angst omg 

will you come find me (after the party?)

so hear me out — a plot where muse a and muse b met at a friend of a friend’s party & instantly hit it off. muse a is immediately infatuated with muse b — they laugh, talk, drink; they even make an incredible beer pong team. at some point during the night, muse a decides to put the moves on muse b. however, after leaving to get them some drinks, muse a comes back to find muse b kissing someone else… and to make it worse? it’s their boyfriend/girlfriend. tbh this plot could have the potential of a shakespearean comedy if we did it right akdjgh ok i'm talking messssssssyyyy 

you feel like home (but i’ve got a different address)

okay so i need a tense plot where muse a and muse b are soulmates, beyond the shadow of a doubt — but muse a is married to a nightmare of a spouse. little by little, they spend more time together one on one, but it’s getting increasingly harder for muse b to see muse a with their spouse, especially knowing how that spouse treats muse a. idk this is a rough plot/work in progress plot but i feel like it has potential to go somewhere!!!

be my wingman (but take me home)

give me a plot where muse a and muse b, while best friends, are on total opposites of the spectrum – muse a is a total ladies-man/maneater, while muse b is incredibly awkward and fumbly around the opposite sex. they go out to bars, to clubs, to dinner or to brunch – it doesn’t matter, muse a finds it hard to leave without getting the waiter/bartender’s number while muse b tries to figure out if the human body will ever be capable of controlling the blush response. after witnessing the millionth strikeout during a night out at the bars, muse a decides to give muse b some pointers – except muse b has never felt more comfortable flirting, even if just for practice, with anyone else before<3 give me sparks flying, muse a seeing a totally new side of muse b they didn’t think existed; give me staged, practice dates; give me muse a teaching muse b how to win someone over, give me muse a teaching muse b all the ins and outs of relationships - give me muse b taking everything they’ve learned and showing up at muse a’s doorstep anyway - give me muse b taking all the advice they’ve learned and turning around to use it on muse a because the only reason any of their teachings or advice ever seemed to work anyway was because they were with muse a the whole time !!!!! give me an ‘i was in love with you the whole time and had no idea until you taught me how to give a proper kiss, and now your lips are the only ones i ever want to kiss again’ ship, thanks 

i’ll have what she’s having 

needing a mxf strangers to lovers plot where muse a just so happens to be the bartender who saves muse b from a date that’s turned out to be a completely horrible, awkward, and embarrassing dumpster fire. muse a, tending the bar as they normally do, likely for the third night that week, has been watching the disaster unfold all night – keeping tabs on the long & drawn out gaps of silence, tallying each and every forced smile shared. they, along with the other waitstaff, even have a bet going as to who will up and leave the table first. muse a never once waged their bets on muse b folding first. muse b has been trying their best moves all night, but each flirtation simply does not land, always falling somewhere juuust out of reach. muse b hasn’t made a single joke worth a real laugh since they’d walked in the joint, and in an effort to regroup, decides to freshed up at the bar… where they just so happened to be served by muse a. while waiting for their drink at the bar – likely trying to catch a break from the miserable reality that exists back at their table – muse b strikes up conversation with muse a, and suddenly it’s almost as if every joke and flirtation that’d been set off and misfired previously found the exact right place to land… muse a. 

i’m thinkin’ a meetcute where muse a & muse b meet by complete happenstance – it’s a hookup that turns into more; slow burn, muse a/b’s pasts slowly become unraveled; lots of angst revolving whether or not the other is truly ready for a next level relationship, all that jazz !!
