I haven't seen anyone mention it but Freya and Magnus where both having the same nightmares, right before they both died.

I rather suspect Freya had the nightmare of the mermaid (both Freya's painting and the drawing match the hypothetical painting of HER) because both of her parents were from Silkwyrm-on-sea, but more important, because her mother was Felicia, who saw the Mermaid up close on Dearest Selena. When you think on a broader scale outside the murder in TT and MM the timeline gets kind of wibbly, but it's pretty likely Felicia was already pregnant and just hadn't begun to show on the Dearest Selena's voyage when they found the Mermaid's Tongue.

(This of course likely means Godrik had the nightmare, too, which I believe - that's not the face of a man who has peaceful sleep!)

I could see that being the case, but if it is a draw/painting of the mermaid, wouldn't it have more greener colors rather than reds.

I can understand why they used red in Freyas painting because Tangle Tower was made before Mermaids Mask was conceptualized (I think), but if Mortuga was dreaming of the mermaid, wouldn't his drawing have green/teal colors since there the colors that have been connected to the mermaid and he knows what the mermaid looks like so the drawing would have been more clearer rather than abstract.

I feel like their setting up something for another game because out of all of the clues shown in the concept art, Mortugas letter isn't shown.

Also, I can't remember if it's been stated that the paint is of a person or a place. If it's a place, it could possibly be where the next game takes place.

The Hammerheads(I think that's what their called) for example, they look like they have a similar body build to Manatees, and despite the aggressive behavior when you get near them, I think they really only eat small fish or algae from how their mouth looks.
