i think it’s okay that sasuke killed people. i think he should’ve killed more people, even

I really don’t understand how you can watch Naruto and come out of it thinking that Sasuke didn’t put in effort or got things easily unless you were extremely biased against him for petty reasons. He may have a confident attitude but that doesn’t negate the rest of characterization. Like even setting aside how hard he worked training to learn the fireball jutsu or with Kakashi or under Orochimaru or the fact that many of his power-ups were connected to traumatic circumstances (which definitely can’t be considered “getting them easily”), the amount of focus and thought and precision that he shows in every fight that he’s in, the amount that he’s willing to sacrifice and put himself through for his goals—like practically nothing he does prioritizes his own comfort or safety, nothing about his actions or approach conveys that, nothing he does is careless or sloppy, he applies himself and devotes himself to the point of self-destructiveness and at times it’s heartbreaking to watch what he puts himself through, but none of it conveys complacency or a sense of getting things easily.

naruto and sasuke both associate love and care with suffering but in different ways…. naruto sees suffering as proof OF his love and dedication and believes that’s what you’re supposed to do for what and who you love while sasuke sees suffering as like an unavoidable side effect that comes with loving or caring about anyone. naruto actively seeks out ways to prove how much he cares about people by allowing himself to suffer for their sake while sasuke tries and fails to isolate himself so he doesn’t have to suffer any more than he already did
