Ribbitrabbit is such a tragic dynamic to me, it’s clear both parties suffer in their way. Obviously Jax is in the wrong, but it’s deeply nuanced and not as black and white as right or wrong. Jax got scared and pushed Ribbit away, and Ribbit couldn’t understand what she did wrong. Tragic miscommunication, tragic fear of being loved and known, despite craving it.

I personally really related to Ribbit in such cases. I wanted to flow and let some of my own personal feelings from real life experiences into this illustration. It’s a simple composition, but the splashes of color speak to me.

The feeling of having someone you deeply love switching up on you leaves a deep scar. It’s so confusing, it hurts like hell. Not being able to wrap your head around why they suddenly give you the cold shoulder even when all you’ve done is give them unconditional love and a safe space is a really isolating feeling. I think it’s one of the most painful and confusing experiences I had to go through. Seeing it briefly explored with Ribbit spoke to me.
