Kyungsoo bolted away in the direction of the Doctor's office, resembling a criminal fleeing the scene of a crime, the only difference being the lack of a guilty expression. The door was ajar, Kyungsoo nudged it open with his elbow, almost knocking the doctor off his feet.
"I gave him an orange." A mixture of shock and disbelief tumbled through plump lips. He lowered his hand, thumb throbbing from the way he'd nibbled at a piece of loose skin, having torn it away in his haste to flee. "A peeled orange." He took a deep breath, confusion clear on his face.
The Doctor cleared his throat, using one hand to straighten his tie and the other to adjust his glasses, knocked askew by Kyungsoo's abrupt entrance. "You did, yes. I saw." Remnants of a smirk were left on the Doctor's face, obviously pleased with himself. The older male had always pushed his patient to make friends, to be the one to initiate a friendship. The occurrence he had just witnessed had been unusual, yes, things usually were whenever Kyungsoo was concerned, but it was the closest the doe-eyed boy had ever gotten to going out on a limb.
"Any particular reason?" The Doctor returned to his desk, picking up his pen to continue taking notes. "Why did you feel the need to give him something, Kyungsoo?"
The boy looked through the glass window, out of sight of the patients and doctors outside the office, but in the perfect spot to stare at the dancer. "How should I know?" He almost scoffed, "Why did Princesses offer handkerchiefs to Knights in shining armour as a token of their gratitude?" He mumbled, momentarily derailing his train of thought to think back to the time he'd watched the Shrek movie, alone and rather confused - how could a Princess fall in love with an Ogre anyway?
"Perhaps you felt grateful towards him?"
Kyungsoo rested his forehead against the glass and trailed his finger along the window-ledge. "He didn't look at me like the other doctors and nurses do--" The doctor opened his mouth, intending on interrupting with something along the lines of 'they're just showing they understand' but Kyungsoo shot his reflection in the window a look. "Hyung I hate that, it's sympathy, they feel sorry for me, I know that look so well-- but he smiled at me. Isn't that reason enough to thank someone?"
