I was in Vegas and heard the democratic caucus was today, so I swung over to New York-New York and found my way to where it was happening. Five at-large caucus locations were set up on the strip so that shift workers who otherwise wouldn’t make it to their local precinct in time to vote would be able to participate. Casino workers were given three hours, which meant this turned into a long lunch for most (as indicated by the box lunches in the photos). At the casino, the only access to the room was through two elevators. This delayed the start of the caucus while the participants were shuttled up a few at a time, but few left because of the delay. By law, anyone in line by noon was to be allowed in, and the total count was initially estimated at 299. I had to leave before the final tally, but it was a pretty neat spectacle to witness.
