Double, Double

“Well, from what I’ve seen, you are not like the other Mikaelsons or what a Mikaelson should be like,” Bentley answered, shrugging lightly. “I don’t know.”

“What do you mean by that? That I don’t drink blood?”

“Might just have to say goodbye if you can’t get past that weird stage, though it will take some time.”

“I hope it won’t come to that.” 

Ashton too a drink. “A freash start.” He agreed. “What’s new with you?”

“I’m a drastic person.” He shrugged, “But you know I won’t do it.. It’s going to be weird at first.”

“What if it’s been too weird for too long and it’s a lost cause?”

“Oh dear god you make this a struggle… I’d say kill him but that’s clearly the wrong answer and one you don’t want. Alright, well just get to know each other again, go grab coffee or whatever you kids like to do and re-get to know him.”

“That’s awfully drastic, I’ve never wanted to kill anyone and I don’t think I want to start now.” She sighed, “I just, I don’t know, I feel weird about it.”

“I do have a great role model when it comes to breaking the mold of family expectations,” Bentley nudged Kyra.

Kyra smiled, “And how exactly am I doing that?”

Ashton gave her a smile smile. “Then here’s to the start of a friendship.” He raised up his glass.

Kyra returned the smile and clinked her glass against his, “To a fresh start.”

“I would buy you a round of drinks but…you kind of get them for free already I bet.” He smiled at her, shaking his head slightly. “Want to go grab a bite?” He tilted his head as he asked.

Kyra smiled, “I’m always down for a bite. Or a drink, or both.”

Ashton nodded. “Maybe it’s the beer talking, but you think we could try to be friends again?” 

Kyra smiled, and nodded, “I’d like that. It’s been weird not having you in my life the last few years.”

“You’ve got a tough one yourself there, Mikaelson.”

“Well, fortunately for you, you seem to be breaking out of the mould.”

“ alright, i’m in – i mean, how could i ever possibly pass up having dinner with one of my most favorite cousins? ”

“Exactly. How are you supposed to resist all of this?”
