Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a wonderful musical that still makes me cry every time I listen to the soundtrack. It’s about a 16 year old gay boy who wants to go to prom in a dress. He starts doing drag and puts on his first drag show in a club. It’s based off of a real person and real events, there’s a documentary you can probably find online.

I’ve watched the recording of a live show in the Westend that they showed live in cinema (they keep trying to delete it from YouTube but every few months someone puts it up again) but I’ve never seen it live and it’s number 1 on my lists of musicals I wanna see live.

As a queer guy who has come out as trans and gay, this musical really hits me. Especially ‘Ugly in this Ugly world’. It’s my go to belting song when I’m home alone and feel like shit. Even years after coming out and starting transitioning, I still struggle with the trans part of my identity and wishing I was normal and feeling like I don’t belong anywhere. To have a song that perfectly sums up everything really hits me.

The film is coming out in Feb 2021 and I am so excited.
