He loves flowers. He likes pressing them to put in his journal when he can, or sketching and investigating those he can't. His favourite place on the entire Temple to meditate is the gardens. Because of this, he almost always has a faint scent of wildflowers about him. You wonāt notice unless you have a stronger sense of smell than a human, or youāre standing VERY close, but itās there!
I was talking with @glompcat and discussing why the Lost Twenty are such a fascinating thing, because theyāre put in such a place of prominence. Theyāre right out there ON DISPLAY IN THE LIBRARY, thereās nothing hidden about these twenty Masters who chose to leave the Jedi ways. When Obi-Wan and Jocasta talk about them, especially Dooku (before they knew he became a Sith Lord who was inciting war and murdering people and enslaving worlds), there is such incredible fondness and affection in the way they speak of him!Ā They smile and Jocasta strokes Dookuās statue and Obi-Wan listens with happiness, to share a story about his Masterās Master. These are busts that are out on display, theyāre not spoken of in whispered conversations, theyāre not hidden away, theyāre not a secret.Ā Everyone knows that itās absolutely a path you can choose, that sometimes MastersĀ who have devoted their lives to this path, realize that itās not for them, and thereās no shame in leaving.Ā The Jedi arenāt jailers, Yoda says in the Obi-Wan & AnakinĀ comic, they wonāt force someone to stay that doesnāt want to. So what happens when someone does?Ā Iām sure theyāre sad to see them go, especially when the galaxy is such a huge place and there are so few of them in comparison and they wind up so far away, but the way Jocasta speaks with such fondness and care for Dooku, that his reasons for leaving are spoken of with respect and validity, that she believes he lost faith in the Republic, shows how much the Jedi recognize that their way of life isnāt for everyone, having these out where people canāt help but see them, be reminded of them, shows that many paths are possible. Theyāre there in a place of honor. AND I REALLY LOVE THAT A LOT. Also, I go with the theory that the busts are just the Masters who chose to leave, because itās an uncommon thing for someone to spend that much time on this path in life, to have truly reached the point that theyāve Mastered themselves and reached a certain level of understanding about the Force, without realizing this isnāt the right path for them.Ā But that Padawans and Initiates and Younglings probably left in greater numbers, because they realized this wasnāt the path for them, no shame in that for them orĀ the Jedi.Ā But it was rarer for a Jedi to get to the level of Master and then decide to leave, given how much theyāre encouraged to know themselves and look to the Force for the thing to do.Ā (This ties in with how the vast majority of Jedi seem to genuinely likeĀ being Jedi, despite knowing that people leave if they want to, that any time theyāre spoken ofāwhen theyāre not Sith Lords, that isātheyāre spoken of warmly
@kyberled from here!
Patience is an important lesson, one that Yan's own Master spent an eternity attempting to drill into his head, and which he managed only mostly. What he had was the ability to plot, and scheme, and try to figure out how to get out of this situation cleanly, because unlike most Jedi, Yan was aware that he was only allowed into the field under heavy watching. Even if the watching was retroactive, most of the time.
"We are certainly not giving them a win." He replied, almost offended -and concerned, and a bit on edge-, even as he walked around the place and catalogued what his eyes told him, and what the Force corroborated.
And then the other had given them a hiding place, and Yan pointedly did not sigh.
"Well that is one place to wait." He replies, because he cannot entirely help it. "By all means."
āWait, nothing.ā He says, glancing back towards the door. Time was running out; the droids would be here soon. āThis might just be our escape.ā Not a glamorous one, but that wasnāt the point. It was survival. Could they handle a fight with the Separatists? Probably. But in this case, heād rather not risk it. Better to not be backed into a corner. Especially when they werenāt sure of numbers, or when reinforcements would arrive from either side. Itād only end up a mess. And a mess involving lives and safety was not a mess that he wanted to be a part of.Ā
āVents like these run all over the ship.ā He explains, gesturing to the hole. āI canāt guarantee it will take us to an airlock or hangar, but itāll buy us some time. If we move now, we can be out of here before those doors open.ā
anyway what if i did a starter call going into the weekend.... Keep 'em short unless otherwise plotted. Multis specify <3

I WANT TO FIGHT DAVE FILONI AND THE JEDI COUNCIL FOR THIS š
13 - What do they have in common with their sibling(s)?
A father? In reality, he doesnāt have a lot in common with either of his brothers. He has two half-brothers through his father, if weāre sticking with just biological siblings, and no siblings through his mother. His older brother, Karvan Nel, is his fatherās first child through a fling before he met Braigās mother, Shiv. His younger brother, Brean Claermoore, is a clone Eadric had made for inheritance reasons, but nobody knows that other than Eadric himself (and the Kaminoans).Ā
I suppose the thing he has most in common with Karvan is that they both have issues with authority, but how that plays out is different between the two of them. Karvan grew up in the Outer Rim, and doesnāt trust anyone with power. If he does what someone says, chances are it's because he's afraid of them, or somehow thinks he can turn it in his favor. Braig, meanwhile, is much more inclined to listen to people he respects, or can at least recognize as more knowledgeable than him about relevant subjects. So, for example, he generally listens to the older knights and masters around the Temple, and locals in regards to things like terrain when he's on missions. If Karvan doesn't think you're dangerous or useful, he won't listen to a word you say, whereas Braig struggles not to speak out against people who are unfair or incompetent. Neither of them know their biological father or care to find out, so, I guess that counts? Braig also eventually becomes a smuggler in his ācanonā post-Order 66 verse, but given the wide network of contacts he established as a Jedi, he actually has better luck than Karvan does. They also have both met before and donāt like each other, so. Another shared fact. Karvanās a good few years (around six) older than Braig and not Force-Sensitive, so culturally and perceptively, theyāre very different. Actually, of the three brothers, Braigās the only one who can use the Force. Theyāre also all humans with dark hair, if thatās anything?Ā
Brean (the youngest of the three by five years) and Braig, at least, have a shared allegiance to the Republic, but Braig doesnāt carry that loyalty over to the Empire, and Brean does. They both also care a lot about image and put more effort into their appearance. Karvan doesnāt give much of a shit, because again, heās a low-grade smuggler in the Outer Rim. Brean and Braig are both highly educated, but Brean was sent to a military school, and Braig was taught in the Temple. They also have a staunch loyalty to their respective father figures that borders on idolization - Eadric for Brean, Obi-Wan for Braig.Ā
Both of his brothers were created to be his narrative opposites - with Karvan highlighting the difference between the brother who grew up a Jedi in one of the Core Worlds (Braig) versus the brother who grew up scraping together a living in the Outer Rim (Karvan), and Brean providing the contrast of someone who sees people as a means to the end and acts selfishly, versus Braigās tendency to put others before himself to a fault. Anything they have in common is pretty minor or surface level.
SPOILERS FOR THE LAST JEDI VISUAL DICTIONARY: This confirms something theyāve been building to for awhileāthat the Force, the light side and the dark side, are about balance.Ā Itās been talked about all over the TLJ promotion, Snoke says in the trailerĀ ādarkness rises and the light to meet itā, Rian Johnson has said the important word isĀ ābalanceā, etc.Ā The Legends of Luke Skywalker novel have him on Lewāel with a group of Force users who put forth the same idea, that itās an ebb and flow, that:
āSounds like the Tide,ā said Aya. āGrandmother says itās a web that connects the brightest stars in the sky to the smallest shrimp at the bottom of the sea. Its ebb and flow are the breath of the universe, and its rise and fall are the heartbeat of Life itselfāā
ThatĀ āthe ebb and flow are phases of one Tide, not two opposed sides.ā (but also they believe that using the Force at all is perverting it) and ultimately Lukeās lesson learned is:
āTo see the light side and the dark side of the Force as sunlit foam and shadowed eddies in the same Tide; to accept that the Force has a greater will than the individual; to trust that sometimes to yield is not to surrender but to dissolve the ego in the grand web that connects all to all.ā
Take this with a grain of salt, of course because itās someone else telling a story aboutĀ Luke, rather than being 100% accurate, but I quote these passages because Lewāel is mentioned in the Visual Dictionary, so itās an important bit. So, thatās where the ideology of the Force is headed for, itās pretty safe to say, that the two are meant to be in balance with each other.Ā All right, Iām good with that so far, itās pretty fitting with what George has said: - As far back as TPM, he said the theme was about balance. - He says about the dark side and the light side:
The core of the ForceāI mean, you got the dark side, the light side, one is selfless, one is selfish, and you wanna keep them in balance.
- He reiterates they both need to be there, akin to yin and yang. - The Sith are canonically poisonous and a corruption of the Force. The Sith are notĀ the epitome of the dark side. - And theĀ ālight sideā was never mentioned in any of the six movies that I could find. But hereās where I get really wary.Ā The merchandising of Star Wars has soĀ put into our heads the idea that the Jedi are the light side ONLY, that Iām worried this will get caught up in the story, when thatās not actually what the Jediāat least not the PT Jediāwere saying. What didĀ the PT Jedi say?
The PT Jedi wanted it balanced.Ā Obi-Wan says:
āYou were the Chosen One! It was said that you would, destroy the Sith, not join them. It was you who would bring balance to the Force, not leave it in Darkness.ā
These are all things that shouldĀ happen.Ā (George has said that the prophecy was misinterpreted.Ā But thatās more about what specifically Anakin was meant to achieve, not what the Jediās aims were.)Ā The Sith should be destroyed, they are a corruption.Ā The Force should be in balance, not left in darkness. Wait, so, if the Force needs balancing, that means itās out of whack, right?Ā Yes! Thatās the point!
The PT Jedi are focused on trying to balance things because the galaxy is TOOĀ dark, not because darkness is inherently bad or needs to go away.Ā Yoda uses the dark side to help try to see through the cloud thatās blocking them, the dark side is so strong that itās pushing everything out of balance.Ā Of course we see them talking about the dangers of the dark sideābecause thatās whatās the danger right in the time that we see them in! āBut the Jedi are light-affiliated??āĀ In merchandising, yes.Ā But in the canon, we see them be absolutely fine with dark side-leaning Force users, because the Nightsisters existĀ and thatās absolutely fine, the Jedi donāt try to wipe them out, donāt try to say theyāre supposed to be stopped. The Jedi werenāt and arenāt ever supposed to be light-side only.Ā The Sith are their ancient enemies, not their mirror image.Ā Up until their deaths at Palpatineās hands, the Jedi have always strove towards balance. And Iām worried that merchandisingābecause we always need opposing factions, rather than one side thatās balanced thatās trying to battle one thatās out of balanceāwill lead the movies to say the Jedi are wrong because they tried to stamp out the darkness.
@kyberled from here
The room they are in is empty, for now, and yet the song of the Force speaks of conflict, of upcoming battles, and Tarre can feel the thrum of it in his very bones.
That the conflict is many enemies and a charge that still needs to be disarmed is not ideal, and that it will involve running while Tarre is still wearing much of his armor isn't either, but the Force will take care of the latter. The former... well.
"I will catch up." He promises, and there is all the assurance he can give in his voice, and he only doesn't reach towards the other through the Force because it would be bad manners and a Mandalorian who can wield the Force does tend to make people somewhat twitchy.
And then he's running, following the call of the Force, and once the call is strong enough he decides that he can let that particular cat out of the bag for the sake of expedience anyway: he needs to get to the lower level now, and so he pushes, and the Force takes care of the rest, as Tarre jumps in.
He doesn't even try to hope that it hasn't been noticed.
Thatās that, then. Time to move. Every second wasted was a second closer to failure, and that couldnāt happen. He wasnāt going to die here. Not at the hands of the Empire, and certainly not like this.Ā
The tunnels twist serpentine in front of him. Not for the first time, he wishes he had the men with him. It would be so much easier if they could just clear every route at once. ⦠But those days were long gone. Now he only had his wits, his luck - and of course, the Force.Ā
That always helped.Ā
āOkay,ā he mutters to the universe, āwhere to?ā It answers in the form of a deep cobalt whispering, a hungry chill. He listens. His footsteps echo off of the walls around him. Itās familiar in the worst way. Another turn up ahead. Just a little farther- There. Itās not anything sophisticated as much as it is a tangled mess of wires around the detonator, but itād be a disaster if it went off. Heās not sure how much time is left. Thereās certainly no display rigged up. Even if there was, heād rather get out of here before his new ally gets overwhelmed; as imposing as he was, leaving him with the Imperials still felt wrong. Best to hurry, then. He crouches down, brow furrowed in thought.Ā
Donāt fail me now.Ā
Thankfully, the Force answers. A few wires cut, no explosion, and the charge is dealt with. He lets out a breath with a silent āthank youā, then turns to retrace his steps. His sabers are in his hands before he makes it past the entrance.Ā
āIām here! Are you alright?ā
@rcvival

"Why do I know that? Am I smart?"
"I canāt be the only person here. Right?"
"Thatās the sun! There it is."
"(name), can you help me out? There we go!"
"Iām not sure it should come from me."
"Weāre all gonna die!"
"You're forgetting something."
"I need your help."
"That was a long time ago."
"You heard about that, huh?"
"No one in your field wants anything to do with you because you refused to back down from a very unpopular view, and I can give you a chance to prove them all wrong."
"Well, jokeās on them because I donāt even care."
"Youāre running away because youāre scared."
"I need you to come with us."
"Sorry, I didn't catch your name."
"I want you to tell me what they are, how they work."
"(name)'s really dying, isn't it?"
"Is all of this necessary?"
"It died. This is great news."
"Sorry if I overreacted in there."
"Thank you for your help. Iām glad you didnāt die."
"I need people who think theyāre right when everyone else thinks theyāre wrong."
"The world is counting on you."
"Iām not doing that."
"We don't. But I do."
"We donāt need a coupon. Weāre the government."
"Why you saying 'Uh-oh'?"
"We're parents, (name)."
"I can't do this. I can't. I can't."
"Why on earth would you need that much (thing)?"
"For that, we need you, my friend."
"There are infinite possibilities for this to go wrong."
"Nothing about this is safe."
"First, I owe you three bottles of vodka."
"You deserve much more than this."
"Seems like something we should talk about."
"Well, I guess thereās egg on both our faces, huh, (name)?"
"We would need years for that, and we have months."
"Iām wrong about everything and everythingās wrong."
"Youāre a long way from home. I'm a long way from home too."
"You scared me when you went (imitates screaming)"
"I donāt have one of these. I love it! Thank you."
"I still donāt think I can do it, though. Sorry. Itās just, uh if Iām wrong, Iām really wrong."
"You need to solve it. I need to solve it."
"If weāre gonna save our planets, we have to learn how to communicate."
"Iām really excited to be working with you on this. Fired up. Sorry I'm talking so much. It's just, I haven't been around someone in a long time.
"Thatās really interesting. That sounds like something we can unpack that tomorrow."
"This is where the science happens."
"Thereās no way you can hear me right now."
"The beach is always changing. You could go to the same spot every day, youāre always looking at a different beach."
"I miss the (thing). What about you, (name)? What do you miss most about home?"
"You donāt sing, huh?"
"You're very mysterious."
"You believe in God?"
"Just stop your crying; it'll be alright."
"I got to meet you. I got to do all this amazing stuff. Iām good. Iāve made peace with it."
"I didnāt mean any of that. Thatās just something you say."
"Can you take a compliment please?"
"Iām not worried. Are you worried?"
"I donāt think there is gonna be a later."
"Iām not ready. I donāt have any training."
"Iām not heroic in any way. I cannot do this."
"No pressure but we did make a deal.*
"I understand the stakes. I do. But I donāt have it in me. My mind is made up."
"This may seem like me betraying you, but itās actually me believing in you."
"Donāt make this harder, please."
"I canāt do both. I can go home or I can save (name)."
"Why you always gotta be so early?"
How Many People are Simping You?
He is quite charming.
