Week 4 Reading Response
In the Norton Field Guide, the reading talked about media design, purpose, and grabbing the attention of the readers. All of these topics intermingle with each other, without one you lack the other.  Media design is crucial because something bland and boring won’t grab the attention of your readers. It’s important that you build and construct something the is creative and resembles what you are trying to get the reader to understand(purpose).
It’s important to catch the readers’ attention simply because you are trying to get a point across to them. If you lose the reader, then you lose to chance to persuade them to support what you are pitching.
Lastly, what good is all of this without purpose? Purpose is the meat of your argument. Without purpose your argument is invalid. Express what you want the reader to understand with a detailed well thought out summary. No purpose = No followers.
Sup Dedrick, I really liked the part where you called purpose the meat.... But you were missing the bread and any other condiments in the analogy. Everything we do in communication has a purpose and it is important that we design our media to serve the purpose.Â
Media design plays a role in our multimodal post. It's only multimodal if there is effect put into the post and the images we add to the post aid the strength of our purpose. Communication was created for the purpose of grabbing attention and not being bland as you stated. Because no one wants to pay attention to what you're saying if they are bored and if no one pays attention to what you’re communicating your purpose will not come across.
