I have a theory abt Scratch (other people prob have had this theory too, idk I don't pay too much attention to fan theories but I had a lot of fun making it even if it might not be revolutionary yk)

(WARNING: A LOT OF THIS IS SPECULATION AND ONLY BASED ON CANON. It might be cannon idk I've not seen a lot of leaks)

So obv Scratch was the first one to abstract, as Kinger said it outloud, but it prob had to do with Caine messing with his mind (as Kinger said "Scratch, the first abstraction" after Caine was like- "yeah I don't control people's minds anymore"). We also know he was pretty crazy and creative with his ideas most likely bc of the tumor he had in his head.

We're getting into speculation territory and I might be wrong, but I feel like Scratch was tryna get Caine to fix his mind or fix the tumor or soemthing bc back then it was likely they didn't know if they could or couldn't die in the circus (I don't think they can DIE die, but it depends on what abstraction is described as). Caine might have been hesitant and unsure or he might've not. Either way he prob messed with Scratch's mind and that lead to him abstracting

I think there's also some dialog from Scratch in one of the different language dubs from the start of episode 8 (while we got silence to focus more on Kinger and Queenie) of him being confused and asking Caine where they were and Caine just not caring at all so that might tie into something, idk
