Les Misรฉrables (2026) French Film Trailer is out. It's an action/thriller?
I think the most important note is: THIS IS AN ACTION/THRILLER FILM. It is inspired by the Harrison Ford movie "The Fugitive", which i watched a number of times in youth and enjoyed it but uh. They added a chase scene for bread stealing.
I made a little cut of the trailer so i can just stare at the parts that might be les amis/barricades/is the eponine? i expect the going out a window must be valjen and javert. (I just started my Les Amis obsession in april, i've been a fan of the musical since I was 5, I have my priorities right now)
Note: The sound is all over cause it's jumping through the trailer
Most info is in French, which I do not speak, so I could be off on anything. Or it could just be wrong!
Does anyone know clothes, are those period accurate?
$47+ million, one of the most expensive French films ever. The shoot was 3 months
Not all the announced actors have parts listed, I am guessing the hot young Moroccan -French guy (Sayyid El Alami) is Enjolras, I got no complaints there honestly.
Cosette and Fantine are 25
Fantine's lover (Fรฉlix Tholomyรจs) & his mother present?
Mme Thรฉnardier might be a major role>
Waterloo, I assume that's waterloo in the trailer?
"more prominence to female characters"
They also want to focus on the female characters and I'm really unclear what they *aren't* including because it seems like far too much. Action scenes, Waterloo, more on Fantine, Javert, other women? Three weeks filming the barricades?
"ย a more grounded, visceral sensibility to this new adaptation, emphasizing moral torment and social upheaval, with images of poverty, punishment and revolution."
What was the single most difficult sequence to shoot?
"The barricades. That was a three-week shoot in Bordeaux in the middle of a heat wave. It was 40 degrees [107 F], with 300 extras. And I should note, nothing was done with AI. We did it the old-fashioned way. The hot, sweaty, old-fashioned way."
I don't know how book-accurate June 5-6 will be, I don't know how much I care, etc
