Ashes to Ashes.
Hard soles clacked against the wet pavement. Droplets flew up from each step as a thin layer of rain water lingered. There had been so much sleet and rain in this filthy city that the drains couldnât keep up. Most were clogged with garbage from filthy people who littered.Â
Speaking of littering, someone just about tossed their cigarette butt onto his jacket. Narrowed eyes peered in the direction the lit paper paper had came from, âWatch what youâre doing.â
Lone Wolf
The sensation was hazy at first, like a low tempo beat pulsing under his feet. It wasnât exactly pinpoint-able until the search began. At first, Ookurikara wandered aimlessly like a child in the dark, but soon enough he was walking a determined path. The closer he got to this, whatever it was, the more he felt the hum radiate in his chest. Signs were passed and pedestrians ignored. Everything around him was a dull blur as the source was searched for. Once he felt that there was no further to go, eyes scanned the crowd. Ookurikara had no idea what he was attempting to locate. How would he? âThis is foolish,â he chastised himself.

Carpe Diem? Bullshit.
There was nothing beautiful about the cold steel that loomed over head. Nor the glass with itâs hollow reflections and layers of grime. The wind howled yet it could not drown out the murmur of pedestrians or the blaring screech of train whistles and car horns. The city was a god damn disgrace.Â
There was no warmth in his surroundings. No glimmer of hope or happiness in the eyes of the people he passed by. What he was was the crumbling desire to merely survive, not thrive.Â
âWelcome to Hive City,â he repeated to himself with disdain. Tan skin was ashen from the unbearably cold weather. Hands remained stuffed in pockets despite his collar whipping open to let icy wind cut through him like a hot knife. He only had however many more miles to go before he was out of sector two and in his sector, number three. Minutes passed and his breath came in shuddering, foggy whirls. He had to take a moment to regain some heat. But where? There had to be some place for him to duck into before he froze to death.
âShit.â
Iâm excited to be back and ready to get this show on the road so if you want a starter like this post! No cap. Lenghts will vary but the majority will most likely be paras.

New fanart of my TouRabu bae next to Kogi~ <3
how to background though haha
Hard to fathom? At first, yes. Servants were tools to be used but for an actual tool to become a personâŚwell, the thought was a bit odd. Warriors of the past gave their swords names and treated them with respect, taking care of them daily they were an important item. It shouldnât have been a surprise that in a world filled with so many miracles something like this could arise.
Ah, the disdain at becoming nothing but a sword on display. Lips curled in a small smile, not as a means to laugh at him but because she realized he didnât understand why. âThe current era is not fit for sword battles Iâm afraid. Only the oldest and most important are put on display for purposes of history.â There was a pause as her head was tilted just slightly before she commented again.
âI suppose that doesnât satisfy you though. A weapon is created not for display but for use. Itâs edge  becomes dull and brittle in an almost shameful way.â Though the words seemed harsh they were not said in a tone to indicate such harshness. Instead she simply understood: why have an unusable sword laying about?
The chuckle his question elicited from her was abrupt and fleeting. So he thought she was also a sword! âI answer to myself as no one has been the master of me for many years now. As for my purposeâŚâ Carmine eyes looked away briefly while she thought about this. When her eyes turned back to meet him they were all too confident.
âTo live, of course. There is no better purpose. You speak of purpose and yet it feels like you have none. You cannot wait to be given a purpose.â
Ⱐâ âąÂ It was as if she could see through him. Her ability to read his heart was almost terrifying. What had this person lived through to make her so savvy of his own woes? It was a mystery he was curious to unearth if he could.Â
âLife within nothing but a box is nothing worth boasting about,â he agreed with her in his own round-about way. Ookurikara felt at more of a loss than he had at any other point in his life. At least with Date he had use. A purpose. Thatâs all a sword needs. Each of them was made for a reason and reason was what kept them alive. Without it they were nothing but tempered steel.Â
He point was sharp, but true. He could not refute her claim. Ookurikara could not even say his purpose was to live. Was he even truely alive? Had he been all along? There was no way of knowing and no way that he knew of to find out.Â
He couldnât contain his curiosity, âHow do you know? What makes you so sure? You donât know me.â
Nothing else needed to be said. Pages flew, and so did he.
ăăăăăâ or. He would, eventually. But before that, a moment of electrified tension stood right between them, broken only by the Saniwaâs quiet laugh.
âYou could say hello,â he suggested, even knowing the comment was unwanted. It was more for him than the tachi, because that was how he worked:Â
Ookurikara took for himself, selfishly, and you had to take in kind. Words, peace, a pause in between⌠he didnât need those. He didnât need a thing.
But it was alright. A momentâs delay wouldnât change how this turned out.
âIt might be boring,â he continued, saying â again â things that didnât need to be said.
âBut try to have fun.â
ăăăăăAnd donât go easy.
It was seconds before he was upon the blade, striking at him quickly.
He was no swordsman. He was no sword, bound to sortie heart and soul. ButâŚ
He knew what to do, at least.
Ⱐâ âąÂ He had a reply on the tip of his tongue, but he would not speak it. His mind was in this moment, his eyes ready for the next movement. Muscles were loose and ready to carry his body in yet another dance.Â
With the first swing the sinister waltz had begun, and his own blade was raised to block. Weight was added to push the other back and away. The opening was to bused for a charge and attack of his own.
Effortlessly he moved, body conditioned and at ease in battle. A sword was what he was, even in human form it was no secret that he was very much a weapon.Â

âAnd I stumble across yet another of our numbers. How long have you been here, Ookurikara?â
Ⱐâ âą âHachisuka,â he acknowledged the other, âLonger than Iâd like to have been. What of you?â
Living Space
âYouâre not wrong,â Dahlia singsonged. âCongratulations.â
What a funny man. He easily towered a foot over her petite frame, but still acted soâŚwary. Surely she wasnât that intimidating? Her features relaxed into a pleasant smile that didnât quite reach her eyes.
âIf this is the first place youâve seen, you must be new, right?â A slim hand extended towards him, expectant. âWould you like me to show you around the rooms?â
"Seeing as weâll be roommates from now on.â
Ⱐ⢠âąÂ He was taught to be wary. A sword made for war-- he was always ready for the worst of things. Ookurikara merely looked over her head as she spoke, Looking down the hall into the building that he would be occupying soon. It seemed clean, which was the most he could ask for. He wasnât aware of having to need much else.
âOther than the lab, yes.â Not inclined to being touchy with others, her hand was left empty, âLetâs get on with it, then/ Iâve stood here for long enough.â

âKuri-chan!? Donât be so cruel to me now! Just let me enjoy this moment.â Naturally this moment was lasting longer than what Ookurikara wanted of course. Just because he wears an eyepatch doesnât mean he wasnât blind to the younger swordâs discomfort. He just smiled, he knew that the dragon was never fond of people and close connections, thatâs why Mitsutada had to do this. Eventually he let go of the dragon sword after he got his fill.
âSo, is there any danger in this city?â
Ⱐ⢠⹠âI donât need your affection, youâve done fine without me, enough of this.â Ookurikara pushed at the other to prompt being released from his grip. His patience had worn thin and the amount of touching he could endure had reached itâs peak. Once he was free, he adjusted his coat and pushed back his bangs so he could see from both eyes once again.Â
âThis city is crawling with danger. Yet they arenât armed forces. Each is an individual case. There have been no orders and no one to even give them.â
Ⱐâ âąÂ A harsh wind blew through the city, the feeling it left behind leaving Ookurikara displeased as it was insanely hot and humid. He felt drenched without being wet. It was disgusting.Â
To make matters worse, a sweaty hat had blown off of the head of the person ahead of him and hit him directly in the face. Agitation swamped him as he quickly swiped it off of his person and held it out to the other, âWhat even is the point of wearing something thatâs not going to stay on your person.â
Tadashi sheepishly took the hat back into his grasp, his head bowed slightly in not just apology, but embarrassment as well. This was the second time it had flown off his head, only to land on some poor individualâs face. He would have to secure it better for the future (or at least refrain from wearing it on windy days).
âOh man, I am so⌠so sorry.â He bit his lip, his eyes flickering toward the other. âIs there anything I can do for you? To make it up, I mean.â The stranger looked pretty agitated, like he was having a bad day. It was the least he could do.
