I've said it before and I'll say it again...even though everyone's doing it, there's still way too much money in politics!

Listening to voters' concerns is a great way to spend a New York summer afternoon!

Does your vote count or is it rather how much money you have in the bank? NYC's system of public financing of elections is being overridden by those with the most money to spend. This is why we need to support Sen. Sanders' and Rep. Deutch's constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.

Our Team Dumbo interns were working through the heat today! They went to Brooklyn Heights to spread the word about Jeff and to talk to voters.

The U.S. is pretty unique among industrialized countries in that way too many people are dying everyday because of gun violence. From lax background checks to so-called "stand-your-ground" laws, our country is ripe with opportunities for gun violence. But this is absolutely wrong. I will work diligently to tackle this problem once in Congress and aim to curb the vast moneyed power in the NRA and the National Gun Owners of America. I am a New Yorker against gun violence. Are you?

The inequality gap is wide and widening. Large corporations like McDonald's are recommending personal budgets that forego heat, among other things, as well as working 2 jobs. How about a fair living wage for everyone?

An excellent editorial by Senator Warren. Large financial institutions need to be regulated in order to avoid the high-risk behavior which led to the financial crisis of 2008.

"The data here suggest that 1% of the 1% donors exert a conservative tug on American politics." Obviously, this isn't amenable to our progressive plans to raise the minimum wage and tackle student loans when in Congress...which is why campaign finance reform is such an important issue. Nice work from the Sunlight Foundation.

Lowering student loan rates back to their pre-July 1st rates will help millions of students and graduates. I stand behind our elected officials in this effort. In the meantime, Washington needs to stop bickering and come to a sensible solution for the sake of our country's young people!

The House needs leadership and action on the crucial issues we as a country are facing today, like immigration reform. It's important for Democrats to regain the chamber, but we also need better members who will act in the interests of the people. "These actions show how far the House has retreated from the national mainstream into a cave of indifference and ignorance."
