“Norman and I had met briefly before and shared a smoke and talked about motorcycles at The Game Awards of all places and it’s still like ‘I have no idea what’s happening.’  And then I guess 6 months later we’re on set shooting together and I’m licking Norman’s face. 

“He’s a good dude.  That guy has probably the best work ethic I’ve seen of anybody in Hollywood. He’s diligent.  He’s open.  And on a game like Death Stranding where it’s so–everything we’re seeing was in such an abstraction because you have to keep in mind in a film we’re shooting on a green screen, you can kind of understand the space that you’re in–but everything was so abstract.  Even the character design.  Hideo would say, ‘You have this lion creature that’s behind you, but it kinda looks like this.’  And I’m like, ‘How big is it?’  And he’s like, ‘It’s ginormous.’  All of those things for any actor are a challenge and especially if you’re not in your costume, you don’t have a real function prop that can be an obstacle.  That can be a source of adversity.  And to see someone like Norman Reedus who has such a body of work behind him and also just such success; for him to choose the challenge, for him to stare down that adversity and meet it head-on was really inspiring to watch.  Both he and Hideo are someone I’d work with any day of the week.”
