I’m still on glimmer writing break but I thought I’d give some fun facts about Candies while I’m on vaca :) I also will be posting episode 2’s scene map at some point!
1. The theme of Candies is Dracula by Tame Impala. I listened to it probably for hours straight while writing that first draft of the story, back in October when the song first came out.
2. Choso’s birthday in this story is November 23rd, 2000. The birthday comes from the Japanese pun of 11/23 (ii nii-san hi), which is also “good big brother day”. In any stories with Choso that I’ve written, I feature that day as his birthday :)
3. Megumi’s route isn’t considered canon to the story. It would be in the same space as a hypothetical Maki, where he’s there as an extra route but separate from my main story I’m trying to tell.
4. Yuji being an astronomy major came from a joke that he would totally pick a major because it “looks cool”. Also, definitely could see him and MC looking at the stars as kids back in Sendai.
5. Candies is probably to blame for me becoming a Yuji stan. My room has become a Yuji room. Way too much Yuji. But also not enough
6. Maki was originally supposed to be a love interest along with Yuji, Choso, Sukuna, and Megumi. I’d love to make a route for her, but that would require a lot of overhaul as she doesn’t work as a love interest in the main story (aka the Yuji/Choso/Sukuna routes). I wanted her to be a safe space especially after Sukuna 😭
7. This is an engine/ai error, but one of the most common errors I’ve had to fight with in the story is Sukuna’s tattoos being misplaced on Choso for some reason. I have many numerous scs of me crashing out over Choso being depicted with Sukuna’s bands LMAO
8. One of the reasons that candies is just 2 episodes (in this moment) is because knowing me I would make the story angsty if I made it any longer. Yes, including the Yuji route.
9. There is an unpublished dupe of this story called The Author’s Edition, where I spend most of my time free playing/playtesting the story lol. This came from my fear of accidentally deleting key details from the story while playtesting.
(Bonus:) From least to most jealous, I’d rank the love interests (within my HC) as this:
Most: Megumi. Megumi swears he don’t gaf, but once that man is attached he is POSSESSIVE and will lose his shit if someone tries to take his shawty. Example A: episode 2 of season 3 with Yuji
2. Choso. My love. My sweetiepie. He’s too emotional to share.
3. Yuji. Previously the most jealous by a long shot. He never let MC have boyfriends growing up, and would scare off any guys who she’d like, vise versa. As your bf, Surprisingly secure? He’ll get playfully jealous or whine, but if you give him attention, he’s hella easy. He might even get an ego at showing off his gf if they’re both freaky like that.
Least: Sukuna. Honestly not really much of a love interest at all he does NOTTTT gaf
