Whitaker vampire headcanons + drabble?
I was a massive fan of Young Dracula as a kid, admittedly, obsessed, so it only feels right I write something YD related for Whitaker
Whitaker steals blood every shift
He's gotten good at never getting caught
Growing up with brothers, Whitaker learnt early on how to steal without getting caught
However once Whitaker got caught by Mohan with two blood bags in his hand, when questioned he said he made a mistake and it was the lack of sleep
Whitaker choses to work solely day shifts to stay out of the sun
He's always the first to arrive and the last to leave
Despite now living with Santos, if it's still light outside after his shift he will wait it out in the dorms above the hospital
Whitaker always asks for permission when entering a patients cubicals
Whitaker always knocks on trauma room doors if he's needed
Growing up on a farm, Whitaker's family were able to source most of their blood through animals
Whitaker never felt great about this when he was a child but he knew it was out of necessity
Due to his predominantly animal blood diet, Whitaker was not acclimatised, physically and emotionally for drinking human blood
However when moving to a big city for college, his diet had to change. Whitaker didn't have enough money to buy steaks or large sections of animals
So, during his time at college, Whitaker volunteered at a blood bank. He was unable to draw the blood, as he had no degree yet, he shadowed those who did
He would steal a few viles each shift and ensure each donor's visit was never correctly registered
Whitaker found online forums of people selling human blood. He was unsure whether it was real or not and was concerned about getting scammed. Unsure of how to obtain the blood, out of desperation, Whitaker has taken a wallet from Lost and Found at the blood donation centre and used the credit card. He used his neighbours address who was never in and waited.
A week went by, Whitaker insatiably waiting until he heard a knock at the neighbour's door. The box was small and discreet. Once carefully opened up, a paper of instructions for storage and how to consume lay over a hand sized blood bag. Whitaker skimmed through the instructions. Despite his desperation, Whitaker was cautious. Unsure of its origins. He poured it into a glass, and smelt it. It smelt nothing like anything he was familiar with. But it brought back a memory from when he was a child and his family employed a human to work on the farm, only for his blood to be used for dinner two weeks later.
The smell exuding from the glass was metallic but intoxicatingly sweet. Whitaker knew he had to be frugal with what he had
Whitaker began to work at part time jobs to be able to afford his drug. The vials he stole from the blood bank were not able to quench his thirst
When he graduated college and began his rotation at the hospital during med school, he was unable to afford the nectar he had become addicted to. He still volunteered at the blood bank to get his fix, but it was never quite enough. Whitaker decided to lay low and ensured he wouldn't get caught. He did not want his efforts of getting into med school to be ruined. However, Whitaker was unable to keep this facade up. Working at a hospital was too tempting and distracting
Over the years, Whitaker became better at controlling his impulses and limiting his blood intake
