TRIPLE SIX, FIVE, FORKED TONGUE

I need to write something out of my system. I’ve been feeling… not myself for the past year or so. I’ve become this emotionally disconnected shell of a person. I’m afraid of letting people close, I’m afraid of being vulnerable. As a result I push them away either by acting indifferent and cold or just simply becoming distant. Not only is it incredibly selfish but also disturbing because that’s not who I am. Compassion and emotional support have always been my strengths and yet somehow I convinced myself that they cause me to be weak and eventually get hurt. Maybe it doesn’t make sense. And like I forgive myself for thinking that way because it’s an attempt (albeit pathetic) to cope with emotional pain and trauma. But in order to be a human being you have to risk getting hurt for being vulnerable and caring. I will not let painful experiences shape me into something that I’m not.
