ALYSSA & AXEL
“I’m fine. The air is better.” He insisted. Axel’s eyes fluttered shut as he felt her hand briefly on his cheek. He wanted to lean into it, to feel her caress his face like she used to. He wanted that connection again. He yearned for it and he hated himself for that. Nothing will ever be the same. Stop acting like she’s still human; like she’s still the same alyssa you fell in love with. She’s not. His jaw clenched and he glanced down towards their hands that were still clasped together.
“Him?” Axel asked, his voice soft. “It’s a him?” He hadn’t known. Axel knew very little details of what had actually happened the night Alyssa was turned. He hadn’t wanted to know. The fact that it had even happened just tore him up inside. “You’re looking for him too?” He was surprised to hear this. “I’ve been… searching.” He hadn’t made it that far. He had no idea who he was even looking for. “Alyssa–” He moved closer to her, until they were but inches from each other. He wrapped a hand around the back of her neck and made it to where she was looking at him. “What did he look like? What was he wearing? Did he talk to you? What did his voice sound like?” He needed to know.
He’d been searching. Surprise registered first at that fact, as if it should have been a shock someone who had been both engaged to her and a hunter would think to... seek vengeance ? That particular train of thoughts was abruptly interrupted when Axel’s fingers gripped her neck. Wide, blue eyes stared at him for a brief moment of silence, struggling for words when he was so close to her.
“ I ... I guess I don’t have actual, factual evidence that said wolf was a male, I just... know, somehow. I think. ” She swallowed, the image still burning vividly. “ He -- it, whoever -- they had amber eyes. I... I’ll know them when I see them. Did he talk to me ? ” A small sound escaped, caught between a scoff and a laugh. “ He didn’t exactly stay for tea, Axel. In fact, he probably thinks I’m dead. Which is good. He won’t see me coming when I put a silver bullet in his heart. ” She sat up further, placing one hand on his chest in a gentle attempt to push him away before he wised up and got any ideas about choking her to death. “ Why ? Looking to tag team like the old days ? Otherwise, just like the old days, I’m not letting you steal my kill. ” The words were said with mirth, but both the offer and the threat were genuine.
