“I don’t really see the Penguin as being gay, per se…The only person…that showed him any sort of gentleness or respect is Ed Nygma. And so I also don’t think it is a sexual attraction. I also think that Penguin, through the years of bullying, has shut that side of him…It’s almost like he believes what the bullies would say, that he is ugly, he is unlovable, undesirable. So I really feel the character is asexual, to a certain extent. And I’m not speaking for the asexual community, I’m not saying that this is a generalization of what happens.
