I no longer need to be told by my father that he's proud of me. Steve from Blue's Clues basically told me he's proud of me and that's more than enough.

I’ll never say I hate religion because I can still appreciate the hope and comfort it provides for a lot people. There really are some people who, without religion, would probably never develop any kind of moral compass on their own because damn if there isn’t an enormous lack of empathy. Anyway, I feel like it does still serve a purpose and I respect it for that. But FUCK if I don’t hate how blinded some people are by it. Some people seriously just lose all objectivity the SECOND they see any sort of relevant religious iconography presented in the context outside of what they’re used to.

Ah yes, the profit motive, always incentivising the best outcomes.
