wasnt particularly happy w how the last one came out (since i kinda rushed it at like 3am) and i added/updated a few things!! so heres my (new) official ref for how i draw cas and the (brief) explanations for some of the diff things i do :]Β
certainly im not the only person and wont be the last doing some of these things but everything here is part of my own personal canon for cas, which is rlly what i was trying to highlight!! also no shirt/trenchcoat bc i think everyone is pretty familiar w that being part of his look and i was more interested in highlighting the scar situation, since thats whats more unique here. also, casβ ti[gunshot]

the thing about yasha is that like 5 months after creating him and maybe 2 months after my players met him they told me that he is in fact laura palmer so that should tell you most of what you need to know
finally made yasha a ref sheet! would love to do a fully lore loaded one some day but my players follow me so.. no spoilers π«Ά
some lore yapping below the cut tho!
Yasha (Oronovna) of Barovia (town of) fame. Fun fact: he burned Death House to the ground one year after the cult was destroyed - not that it mattered, since the house reappeared out of the smoldering ash two days later.
After the death of his parents, Yasha lived with Kolyan and his children for three years before being sent off to Vallaki, where he currently resides in the Barons mansion as one of his favorite lapdogs (alongside Izek and the Barons two mastiffs). Yasha has various responsibilities around Vallaki under the direction of the Baron, namely his clerical work with soul cleansing in the Church of the Morninglord (alongside Father Lucien), his βhospitalityβ work in the Barons mansion, and hisβ¦other duties in the Reformation Center (where he spent much of his first year in Vallaki being reformed.) While he doesnβt believe in the Morninglord (at least not in any way that matters) Yasha does believe in helping others, and this remains his main motivation for working with the church.
Thanks to his experiences in the Reformation Center, Yasha doesnβt remember much about his life prior to living in Vallaki, and most of what he remembers about Barovia (town of) has either been adjusted with magic to fit a certain narrative or has been blocked off from his access entirely. He has ties to the Death House cult, though he doesnβt remember what they are, only that heβs terrified of and hates the cult with every cell of his body. Itβs unclear what exactly happened to him, and almost everyone who once knew is long dead.
As for Baron Vargas, Yasha has complicated feelings. He hates the man, being well aware of and all too familiar with Vargasβ violent outbursts, much like everyone else in his household. However, survival instinct (or complex trauma) has led Yasha to have a sort of reverence for the man, believing that ultimately Vargas is doing the best he can to keep the people of the village safe; there is certainly a level of cognitive dissonance and a struggle for Yasha to make peace with the life he finds himself living.
Unrelated, his collar and cuffs serve various purposes, some related to his work and others related to preventing him from trying to exit from his life again (not that you can die in Barovia in any way that matters).
Although he gets along well enough with the party so far, he has a hard time balancing his desire to trust them and his nihilistic beliefs. Heβs ashamed of what heβs experienced and, though he wonβt admit it, has a lot of anxiety around being judged, leading him to generally avoid social situations with any real depth to them. Yasha is actually quite clingy and can easily fall into codependency, which he feels he can only avoid (thus keeping himself safe) by avoiding genuine connection with anyone altogether.
Yasha loves to collect small, random, interesting things he finds that others would probably consider trash. Heβs known to pick up and carry around unique rocks, feathers, beads, etc and will gift these items to those he trusts (such as the Martikovs or Father Lucien.)
Nothing better to this man than a nice hot bath with fancy soaps and lotions and candles and wine and all that good stuff. Yasha is relatively proud of his appearance, given that itβs one of the few things he has direct control over (although even this is somewhat dictated by the Baron) rather than strictly out of vanity. He loves fancy clothes and jewelry, luxurious bedding, and his favorite part of festivals (read: generally the only part he enjoys) is any time a feast is involved.

cant believe my curse of strahd dmpc is gonna be the oc that makes me fully lose my mind to hyperfixation and i cant even post about him here because my players follow me and he [redacted]
This is probably a hella annoying question I apologize but what program and brushes do you use? Trying to figure out how to get linework to look like π also what do you use for animations/animatics? Thank you sm your art has been a huge inspo for me for years
AAA you're so sweet o my gosh!! not annoying at all dw :')
my main program for drawing is Clip Studio Paint! i like that i can use it on both my computer and my ipad, altho i don't love that the ipad version is subscription based. the animatics ive posted so far are made in Storyboard Pro which i got into because i actually have a degree in pre-production design! but its definitely not what i would consider beginner friendly nor is it particularly affordable (and also subscription based /derogatory).
to be honest tho, when i feel particularly stuck or artblocked i tend to bounce around a little bit. when im REALLY artblocked (like right now) i sometimes literally open ms paint and just start scribbling. it really takes the pressure off, if that makes any sense!
i would recommend if youre looking to get into making animatics or animation to just start out with something simple and cheap (or even free); you can animate in CSP, but i wouldnt say its THEE easiest program (but at least if youre already using it...two birds one stone). ToonSquid is another good option for the ipad specifically, although i haven't gotten to use it much. i like what i've experienced while using it tho and ive seen a lot of people recommend it in the past! its a $10 investment so not terrible as far as solid programs go.
now. brushes. thats where it gets a little embarrassing.
i actually dont know shit about brushes, customizing them, etc. i just cant quite get it into my head LMAO but what i do know is its really fun to download different assets from the CSP store (lots and lots of good FREE brushes to try) and just play around with them! i know that can be frustrating advice to hear, but just like how i rotate my art programs when i feel stuck i also rotate my brushes. i use a LOT of default brushes with minimal to no brush changes. a lot of my sketches from 2019-2020 were done with the Design Pencil brush, and 2020-now i use the Crayon a lot hsgkjdsf
hopefully some of that is helpful, altho im always very happy to answer more questions or elaborate if needed!! my biggest advice overall would be - don't ever feel like you have to do something a certain way. i got really hung up for years about how i struggle with rendering, or dynamic poses, or even figuring out how to customize brushes. im intimidate by lineart and i dont like how it looks when i actually do it 90% of the time, so i clean up my sketches and call it a day. sometimes, if youre lucky, i add color. with a marker tool. so just do whatever you want forever!!! :-)
