Since we're getting our bias shit off, I would also like to add that NYC is responsible for the creation of House music.
Frankie Knuckles was born and raised in The Bronx and he got his start DJing parties in NYC before he moved to Chicago for an opportunity to be the DJ for what became the legendary Warehouse nightclub.

On top of that, Disco was birthed in NYC, and House is musically an expansion of disco.

House music is like Hip Hop, which also started in NYC. They used the break beats from Disco, Funk, Jazz and R&B to create those two genres that we know and love.
