So
The thing is, I write drabbles and update them whenever it strikes me fancy. Actually, I wrote a decent amount, just nothing I could post.
What I’m trying to say is…
Listen.
I’m trying to update Erasing and Arboreal but also:
I'm easily distracted :P
Ask and you shall receive @kaythisis
There are a few of them, so buckle up!
Astoria al Ghul Wayne - Damian's twin
The story goes according to canon, and then a few weeks into his new life as a gothimite Damian makes the mistake of insulting Tim as even worse than his twin sister.
Record scratch.
Everyone goes "WAIT WHAT?!"
We cut to Astoria, who, as a classic person reincarnated into the world she knew before, deals with expectations of the new environment better than any child would, but doesn't mind the whole assassin cult thing, rigorous training, murder, and following orders.
The small change is that Ra's genuinely likes SI, and they often vibe together.
Damian feels horribly inadequate in comparison to his twin (who has an unfair advantage when it comes to learning and training) and has huge complexes about his adequacy for the position of the Demon's Heir.
Talia also has her doubts since from her perspective Ra's just looks at Dami ominously with a frown and then calls Astoria for private lessons she, more often than not, comes from with a smile. As a mother she worries for the fate of her son and puts extra effort into training him.
Which makes Damian feel even less adequate and further separates him from his twin.
Astoria is okay with that. She didn't get a chance to bond with her new mother and sibling, so no feelings were hurt, and she gets her fill of stimulating training and cool skills from her grandpa's people.
Ra's finds the whole thing hilarious.
Then Ra's dies, temporarily but still, destabilizing the whole LoA. Only Damian gets sent to Bruce and Talia hopes that will breach the gap between twins, only for Dami to slip up.
Bruce panics and launches a "rescue mission".
Astoria is chilling out in her safehouse, in, like, Sri Lanka, until her crazy grandpa is back and suddenly BAM! Fucking Batman breaks in and forcefully relocates her.
Unlike Damian, Astoria doesn't attack or offend anyone. She's a goddamn delight. Cue several bonding sessions with different bat-siblings. None of them is named Damian. A few times, she tries to get into the vigilante business but is gently rebuffed.
Omega Beam "kills" Bruce, chaos ensues, family falls apart, and in the following split, Astoria follows Tim on the archeological road trip to prove Bruce isn't dead. They are both kinda bitter about not being Robin.
The part where Tim cooperates with LoA goes wildly different with LoA princess co-piloting this mission.
Bruce is back, everyone returns, and Astoria gets a little left behind, but instead of trying to bond with others or even explain her feelings, she sneaks off back to her murder grandpa, who gladly takes her back in. And then, behind Astoria's back, he fakes her death. As a treat.
Over a year later, Dick stumbles upon Astoria publicly munching on some fancy dessert in a café after a job well done. He's very dramatic while Astoria tries to awkwardly (unsuccessfully) sneak away.
Cue even more dramatic reunion with the rest of the family and, ugh, talk about feelings and expectations.
The one-shot ends with Astoria calling Ra's, she might stay in Wayne manor for a little while longer this time.
2. Magic AU
In this one, SI pretty fast figures out they're not in canon Gotham.
It takes time, but they manage to deduce Bruce Wayne is some kind of fae, and that has unfortunate implications, including how he considers certain children a free real estate. Which is bad since magical adoption does things on a genetic and psychological level.
And fae don't have human morals. They're scary.
SI, provisionally named Wren, tries to stealthily (and quite unsuccessfully) protect the kids fated to be taken by the Bat from their destiny.
This is where it falls apart, as I have no idea where this story would go next after Bruce nabs all his kids.
3. The full-time hero (Batman x Miraculous Ladybug)
After realizing where she is SI straight up robs Master Fu of his Horse Miraculous to become a teleportation hero - Kestrel.
Because she deliberately changed the theme, and Fu almost never checks the box, her identity for the next few years is safe. SI lies about the miraculous acquisition, Kaalki teaches SI about magic, and they do a good amount of heroing around the globe. At some point, Justice League invites Kestrel to join in while Batman loses his mind over the inability to find out their identity (bc of magic lmao).
At one of the big League missions, Kestrel gives a few people a very specific protection enchantment, and after the whole affair is over, Bats is the only one who didn't use up his. As both parties were not exactly coherent enough to remember that tidbit, the enchantment stays on.
Which hilariously ends up with half-conscious Bruce teleporting on top of SI a few months later. Also, it prevents a pretty big event from happening.
Late game story Kestrel becomes Batman's to go magic user and JL's halftime aid. At some point she reveals her identity, and Bruce has a conniption for several reasons.
4. Tim SI with [SYSTEM]
Just some guy wakes up as Tim Drake and, under duress, is forced to comply with a system forcing him to play the part of the third Robin.
SI!Tim is not happy about his situation and goes full malicious compliance, acting in accordance with the word of his [SYSTEM]'s orders, not the spirit.
Batman gets the most professional partner, Bruce Wayne almost doesn't see Tim Drake. Tim Drake sees Batman as an unreliable business obligation. Bruce has a small crisis and a change of heart in the background.
Dick is inconsolable about the younger boy's aversion to bonding.
[SYSTEM]'s instructions during the Titans Tower incident are vague enough for SI!Tim to effectively convince Red Hood that the third Robin is actually a psychopath planning to murder all the bats. Suddenly, Jason rejoins the batfam if only to keep an eye on Tim.
SI!Tim *at some point, after meeting Babs*: "I miss my wife :("
The plot resolves as Tim topples the [SYSTEM] and bats find out about it.
This is the fault of IAmTheShpee on ao3; they made me slightly obsess over mer batfam ideas.
5. The good Mer AU
A retelling of Batman with SI slightly younger than Dick. She finds him beached after his parents' death and, in search of safety, helps him find the infamous mer living in Gotham Bay.
Healing and hijinks ensue.
The story vaguely follows the timeline, so over time, Jason (mer), Tim (selkie and a pain in SI's ass), and Cass (mer) join the pod.
SI, as a land dweller, tries to leave sea dwellers to their sea business, but they become clingy and then impossible to shake off after Tim joins.
6. The fucked up mer AU
There is a monster in Gotham Bay. A monster destroying many vessels and slaughtering countless sailors. A siren they call the Bat. And lately it had been accompanied by smaller silhouettes.
Coincidentally, there is a wealthy and well-respected family in the port city of Bristol - the Waynes.
SI, with the wonderful hindsight, refuses to touch that trainwreck with a 5m pole. She just needs to keep her head down long enough to get a diploma, and after that, she'll never see the ocean again.
Dick Grayson finds out about the one person who discovered their biggest secret and didn't do anything. He decides to play with his newest victim.
There is a confrontation where Dick threatens SI into compliance, poisons, oh, maybe gives a venomous bite, one that only he can alleviate the symptoms of. Regardless, it's a fucked up situation where SI can't escape as a predator slowly wears her out.
Idk about the ending. Maybe SI's saved, maybe she dies, or maybe there is one more creature lurking in the depths of Gotham Bay by the end of the story.
There will be part 2 because I'm not done
