A Flight of Light

I keep seeing posts re: ‘Fae necks are weird’ so I expored the anatomy a little bit.

Run by: Mostly Guardians

- Claw paintings except most of it ends up on their clothes and each other.

- Snack time. The kids yelling that they don’t eat certain things even though the daycare employees have a super in-depth chart on who can and cannot eat what.

- Play time. Hide and go seek. They all suck at it, but their afternoon helper plays along and laughs because they’re all so cute. Tails are big clues and the standard, “This is MY hiding spot.”

- Music time. Everyone fights over the noises instruments except for that one kid that just wants the triangle. You can barely understand the words they are saying but their heart is always in the right place.

- Nap time aka whisper as loud as you can until it’s over or you actually nod off.

- Outdoor play time. Lots of screaming. Wrestling. The boys vs girls thing during games. A broken nose from kickball. Dodgeball is BANNED.

- A pearlcatcher sobbing uncontrollably because they think someone stole their pearl but it’s actually in their cubby.

- Snapper gets teased about not being able to fly during a game. Teacher takes them for a flight and everyone is jealous.

- Field trips to the beach.

- Walks through nature.

“This is the book you wrote!? The animal book!??” 

“Yes, the Bestiary of Sornieth. My life’s work! All the animals of the world – I’ve been studying them for an age! It is not finished, but it may never be finished, of course. That is a copy of the published version, although I’m always adding new things in my fieldbooks. The world is a wondrous place, my dear. You said you can’t read Draconic? That’s alright – it’s mostly illustrated these days.” 

“..Huh. Why is there a centaur in here? Next to… a seal?” 

“What do you mean? Oh! It’s alphabetic. Dappled Dunhoof, Dappled Seal.”

“Not all Dunhoof are dappled… but that’s not what I mean. I mean, why did you put a centaur in the animal book? Centaurs aren’t animals! They’re people. …Oh!! And here is a Longneck! Oh, lots of them actually. Are they… different clans? This one is wearing a scarf like mine! What is this word here?”

“Ah, that would be interloper.”

“…..Huh! Well, we’ve got a lot of work to do, but don’t worry, I’m going with you. I’ve always wanted to travel!”

“What are you talking about?”

“Rewriting your book, of course! We’ll start with my clan; I think I can get Paitro to give you a brief history, and that should be fine for a book like this. There is a Serthis tribe that’s been living a little south of here since before the Shatter, we’ll definitely stop there –” 

“My dear! Slow down! That’s not what this book is for – I’ve been working on this for centuries –”

It really gives me life seeing like fully plagued up hellbeasts with one dainty female pc in a light/angelic accent and silks or armor or flowers. Sometimes all of the above. Lavishly treated to gem genes and often times not a gen one in a fully genone lair with tons of wildclaws.

The seers had the right of it.  They had said this would happen to any who would listen.  More practical dragons had laughed it off, not understanding how it was possible.  Hatchlings would always be born just as Sornieth would continue to circle the sun.  

Some clans vowed to study it, collecting not only their own unhatchable nests but orphaned eggs as well.  Some lairs were filled to the brim with eggs of all elements while clan scientists tried to figure out just how to lift this curse.  

Like it’s alright to be disappointed/upset with aspects after implementation. It’s alright to point out mistakes that may/will happen AFTER the release is over- probably in the next 24h or so unless it’s a glaring problem (like a gene doesn’t show up on a new color, or shows up for the wrong gender/breed- lookin’ at u female thylacine on male pc’s). Reg window, new colors, baby boom. There’s so much that can go wrong. So please be patient. Please point out bugs and errors in a factual, calm matter.
