Jack is pinned beneath him yet again, bloody, bold, and bragging about his pushing Ian to violence yet again, like it is a victory, a glorious triumph, like there's anything at all to gain from this farce aside from bruises and broken bones - wasted time for both of them - and Ian just- snaps.
He lunges forward to shut Jack up with his mouth.
He's not thinking. He certainly hadn't planned it. It's pure impulse, a culmination of years of annoyance and frustration that urges him to action. To do anything to get Jack to stop being so smug, to stop yammering on and on and on with that stupid smirk on his face. Ian's hands are already occupied pinning down Jack's wrists, so Ian, in the residual high of a good fight cut far too short, the lingering vestiges of blissful, animalistic, staggering stupidity, does what he knows best: He leads with his teeth.
He regrets it almost the instant he makes contact, the very moment he feels hot breath, tastes the skin and sweat and blood of a man for which he feels nothing but annoyance and disgust, but it's too little, too late.
To make matters worse, Jack doesn't even do him the favor of freezing or hesitating at this sudden, unexpected move. He matches Ian's intensity without a hitch and takes it even further by shoving his tongue in Ian's mouth.
He's so obviously eager, straining against Ian's hold to press closer, dive deeper. Fuck, but he's skilled, too, to the point of making Ian a little dizzy, a little short of breath, a little out of his damn mind for allowing this to happen in the first place.
Ian bites Jack's tongue irritably. It earns him a sinful moan. Shit, shit. He is not attracted to this asshole, okay?? He's not! It's just-
Jack rubs his knee between Ian's legs, and his brain goes white and fuzzy around the edges. He hardly even registers letting out a truly mortifying noise of his own.ย
He feels movement and quickly puts a stop to another attempt. They're in an alleyway, for fuck's sake. What if someone hears them? What if someone sees them?
Undeterred by the obstruction and likely possessing zero qualms about getting caught, Jack slips his now free hand under Ian's shirt and takes full advantage of the situation to explore, trailing quick, curious fingers over Ian's hip and up his side, onto his stomach and higher still, until-
Ian grabs that wandering hand just before it reaches his chest, simultaneously in utter disbelief and yet also entirely unsurprised at his audacity. Nipple play already? Not even five minutes into making out? Seriously?? For real??
As if sensing his thoughts, Jack huffs an unapologetic laugh and uses his other newly released hand to clutch at Ian's neck and pull him down even further into the mire. Ian rolls his eyes but lets him do it anyway. He really is way too good at this, and Ian isn't ready to break out of this fleetingly sweet and lustful haze.

Just finished Penacony!!! I have LOTS of thoughts, but it's late, so I'll just say this: 1000000000/10!! Best arc so far!! They really learned from all the things they did well before and did even better this time around. Plot, setting, characters, game mechanics (like the POV switches!!), and even puzzles - All of it was utterly splendid. I was moved many times! There were parts of Jarilo-VI and Xianzhou that were a slog to get through, but in Penacony, maybe the only time I wanted to hurry up and get through a section was when Sunday led us through those three Acts before we could fight him. (It just felt like busy work before the boss fight haha) Other than that, I was basically engrossed the whole time. ๐
Anyway, I already adored Acheron, Firefly, and Aventurine, but Black Swan, Robin, Sparkle, Misha(!!), and Boothill shot up the ranks veeery quickly. I was sad to part!! ;w;
On that note, I've still got lots of side quests to finish up, but!!! It won't be long before I can go to Amphoreus!! :)
I mean not naming names but there is dead playable. Not a lot. But they exist! They even say no more messages can be sent....
Gah!!!! I knew it would be super sad!! I mean, obviously, but still. ๐๐๐๐ Ooh yeah I do Not wanna know. I'll let that brick hit me when it's supposed to and not a moment before _(:3ใโ )_

ahhh fireflyโs death didnโt really hit hard for me even when the patch first came out and no spoilers were online, the pacing was just off to me and i wasnโt very emotionally invested in her so i get it. aventurine on the other hand!! god i love that dude, no spoilers of course but man is he my favorite character.
Oh interesting! I do find myself wondering at what point each patch ended and what the reaction likely was. ๐ค Hmm yeah, like you, I still don't think I wouldn't have believed it. The only reason I was somewhat more willing to buy into Robin's death was bc it felt much more pivotal. Like she definitely haunted the narrative for a bit there. Her posters are everywhere & all around people are talking about her upcoming performance like nothing is wrong. Plus Sunday's visceral reaction & finding out later that Robin was investigating the traitor in the Family AND Sparkle walking around as her... It would hit really hard if she DID die. Like despite only having met her once, when I contemplated the possibility, it did make me pretty sad!
However, I am juuuust past Sunday's betrayal, so I know Robin is very much alive...if emcumbered. I am glad it worked out that way ;w; While her death would've packed a punch, I think having her alive and at odds with her brother is a more interesting direction.
As for Aventurine- I was kinda iffy on him at first. Not dislike but I was waiting for the Good Stuff - his big moment! - and boy did I get it. I did a tier chart of the characters I've met so far for funsies, and I can definitively say he's in S tier even tho I know he's got more planned for this arc. I'm sure now it'll only confirm my opinion. :>

I have now gotten to our foray into Mikhail's dream bubble with Misha. I stopped playing as soon as we entered bc I expect we're headed right for a whole lot of plot that I'm not going to want to interrupt, and I needed to sleep lol
I realize HSR is well past this point and that anyone following me who might be worried about spoilers would likely have blocked the tag already, but I'll put my answer under a read more just in case ๐
I was referring to Firefly's "death" lol I've seen all the character trailers up to Phainon's (where I promptly decided to Stop since that one convinced me to try HSR again & I didn't want to be spoiled further), so obviously I knew Firefly was a mecha pilot and Stellaron Hunter. None of that had been exposed yet + the death was so out of nowhere that I knew it was a ruse. ๐
I've also gotten past the Aventurine boss fight + super brief Firefly reunion & reveal, so now I know for sure. I am currently in Robin(?)'s POV. I stopped playing as soon as it switched to Sparkle for the first time since it was getting late.
Now Robin's death,,,,, That one I'm genuinely unsure about. Like, part of me is thinking "Surely they wouldn't put a dead character in the gacha..... That's super morbid,,, Who wants to parade around as a dead character ;w; Wouldn't that just make you sad??" But idk I might be super weird for thinking that way haha Maybe there's tons of dead characters in the gacha, and I just haven't gotten to a story beat that reveals that yet.
Also Please don't spoil the answer for me! But my understanding of that final scene with Aventurine and Acheron is that Aventurine basically faked his death and noped out into...somewhere. The other side of the dream world?? The void?? Or maybe he just exited this story completely & is speeding away in his getaway spaceship rn. Idk idk He's definitely Up To Something, but I'm not quite sure what it is. (All that talk of nihility and gambles apparently just whooshed right over my head.) Again pls don't tell me! I'm eager to play the game and find out myself. :3c

Supremely funny of HSR to make it so that you can't control Gilgamesh until his interest is piqued. In his first battle, I was legit shocked. I thought he got hit with a status effect ๐ญ๐ญ Also the Saber joint follow up attack is really cool. Now I just need Rin to complete the set... But I'm trying for Gilgamesh first bc I want at least one eidolon unlocked
