“Hey I’m one of those college kids struggling to stay awake and hand assignments in sir.”

“I know. But I also know you’re gonna kick it’s ass.” He said, wrapping an arm around her.

Just gives you a chance to try a new place?

“Something tells me everywhere is pretty packed right now.”

Sophie: it actually makes me feel ancient, too. i remember holding parker as a baby and helping feed his bottles.

Sophie: life goes by fast.

Sophie: definitely. parker seems to be pretty calm right now, but she looks like she's gonna pop any second and i'm betting parker's chill will too. just gotta be there as a support.

Sophie: you should!! he'd love that. i try and bug him as much as i can, but we're both busy with work and he's worrying about 200000 times worse than the rest of us over parker and stella. i gotta ask your mom if he was this bad when i was a baby.

Sophie: he struggled to speak for like a solid two minutes. then he muttered something about feeling "ancient" since "both of the kids are growing up." i bought him a pizza for his troubles.

Sophie: i mean it was KIND OF hysterical to see my tough muscular cop dad look like he was about to faint

Sophie: jonah gave me a promise ring???? my dad almost passed out when i came over and he saw it

“I miss those! So much more satisfying than talking on a dumb phone… probably because it made me feel like I was doing something cool and important. Remember the time we stole my dad’s? I ended up crying when he figured out we hid it.”

Sophie snapped her fingers to do finger guns in return, moving closer to scratch Leia’s head. “She works hard. All her work for the resistance against the empire… takes a lot out of a pup.”

“Your dad was so not happy with us at all.” Kolbe said, wincing at the memory. Kevin was normally pretty calm when it came to Kolbe and Sophie, but he had been so unimpressed by them that day that Kolbe had actually flinched away from him. It was one of the only times where Kolbe had been afraid of Kevin.

“No kidding. She’s super important to the rebellion. Who knows where it would be without her.” He muttered, glancing up at his best friend with a smile before his attention turned back to the dog.

“Okay, so maybe that’s not the best course of action,” Sophie realized with a chuckle. She thought of Kolbe so strictly as a friend that it hadn’t even dawned on her that Erin’s parents wouldn’t see it that way. “So an earpiece? I’ll coach you through it.”

Kolbe grinned at her suggestion, throwing up a thumbs up. “It’ll be just like back in the day with our walkie-talkies. Except a million times cooler.” He stated, scratching the top of Leia’s head as she snuggled up closer to him. “You comfy there, Super Pup?”

Tying her hair behind her, Sophie crossed the room again and sat across from him. “You won’t fuck it up. I won’t let you. You can even Facetime me and I’ll cheer you on.”

He chuckled softly at her words and rubbed his face for a moment before looking up at his best friend. “I can just imagine how that would look. Me Facetiming another girl while meeting my girlfriend’s parents.”

Propping herself up off of her bed, Sophie got up and began to ran a comb through her hair. She watched her best friend sympathetically. “Then you’ll have Erin by your side. And that’ll just be cute, and I highly doubt they can be any more intimidating my dad.”

“Okay, but I’ve known your dad since I was a kid, Soph. He was uncle Kevin...he was never all that scary to me. He was the first guy that I could actually look up to.” Kolbe said, giving her a pointed look before he let out a deep breath. “I just don’t wanna fuck this up. I love her, Soph.”
