Cause taking things slowly is smarter, you know? Anyway, I won’t slow you down any further, just wanted you to know why I’m slowing down myself…”

Sonic flies into a rage that causes mindless destruction, gets jailed for it, Robotnik swoops in to conquer the world, mass fatality, flawless victory.
