Am absolutely not jealous of the wheelchair users who lived through the shag carpet era. Y'all must've been stronger than the marines (literally. Physically. I can't even handle flat low pile carpet for longer than a few hours).

And yet somehow this is my first time kicking it!

The whole "disability isn't a barrier, ableism is" always pisses me off because obviously ableism is a barrier and eradicating it would significantly improve the lives of disabled folk, disability does impact peoples lives and prevents them from doing things with or without ableism

I would still have migraines even if ableism didn't exist (though they would be better managed). I would still not be able to walk if ableism didn't exist (though I would probably be able to get into every building and bathroom). I would still have very limited energy if ableism didn't exist (though it probably wouldn't affect me as much if I wasn't pushing so hard all the time to "feel productive"). You can't take my disability away by changing things outside of my body.

drug addicts deserve housing, food, water, and healthcare btw

this pride month, keep the disabled queer people in mind who can't celebrate pride the 'regular way' aka by going to parades and lots of events. keep the homebound, bedbound, and other disabled queers who can't go in mind. those people who see everyone else party and are unable to attend. text them, wish them a happy pride, visit them and celebrate in a way that works for them. it's already hard not to be able to go to all of these events, it's even harder to be left behind because of it.

It's so fucking infuriating that Trump can make a post comparing transgender people to domestic terrorists and say "we will find you and we will kill you" (verbatim) and aaaaall the news articles in the entire world are busy debating whether he REALLY meant to say that or if its being taken out of CONTEXT or if it can LEGALLY be CONSTRUED as a threat. And meanwhile our actual sisters are being murdered in real time for the crime of *checks notes* doing laundry in public. When will these chucklefucks wake up and realize you're wasting time debating his intentions and all the while the only thing he gives a shit about is whether his most loyal worshippers realize he's just greenlit our public genocide?

There's always a moment of intense cultural whiplash whenever I realize I'm talking to someone who thinks "legal" and "illegal" are meaningful categories and ascribes innate goodness to following the law. It's like meeting a space alien.

by the way it's fine to like sexual content just for the sake of it. "we can't ban porn because other stuff will get banned" "sometimes nude art has value" "the government will classify queer people as sexual" this is all true but it's okay to just like porn. its okay to not want porn to be banned because you like it.
