Knightrook scene analysis - Knightfall: Tilly & Rogers
Youâll have to forgive me if I get things wrong or if I mess up, iâm dog tired from work but I wanted to get this out cos itâs been forever and I miss them.
I was rewatching these scenes because theyâre honestly heartbreaking.
She knows itâs going to be a bad day. She can feel it. Sheâs on the verge of having an episode and sheâs gone to the one person she feels can keep her grounded; can make the fear and anxiety go away.
Sheâs gone to the one person she trusts to help herâŚ
Sheâs gone to Rogers.
Problem being⌠Rogers doesnât recognise the signs. Heâs not in tune with Tillyâs way of functioning just yet.Â
He assumes sheâs just come by to play games- itâs not registering to him that this isnât just her wanting to spend time having funâŚ.Â
itâs her crying out for help.
He finally gets that sheâs having somewhat of a bad day, but heâs far too preoccupied with other things.Â
Whether heâs Killian Jones or Detective Rogers, one thing remains a constant trait in his character; his obsessive nature.
For Killian itâs been revenge on the crocodile and finding a cure for his poisoned heart to reunite with Alice.
For detective Rogers, itâs finding the candy killer and Eloise Gardener.
Once heâs got his mind set on something, he loses track of anything else going on around him.
Her face here breaks my heart.Â
She believes sheâs not important enough to him to be a priority.Â
Sheâs asking for his time, his help⌠and sheâs being turned away.
Pushed aside.
âAnd iâm not?â
We know she suffers with feeling invisible, used as a pawn, insignificant.Â
She truly thought sheâd found someone who saw her and accepted her in Rogers.Â
Someone who wanted to spend time with her rather than a need to, just for selfish gain.Â
He tries to explain.
Of course sheâs important. Of course he caresâŚ
But right now, Rogers has a one track mind and Tillyâs getting in the way of it. His obsessive need is gearing up and itâs damaging other vital aspects of his life without him noticing.
Maybe itâs because his cursed memories have him believing heâs always been alone that he doesnât recognise when he actually does have someone? Heâs become so routine in just looking out for himself that he doesnât notice when someone genuinely is there?
He pushes her away when she needs him most and I cry.Â
Oh noâŚ
Poor Tillyâs really spiralling at this point.
She canât ignore the feeling she got anymore.Â
Sheâs back at the station and is trying her hardest to appear fine but the cracks are already leaking and sheâs becoming irate.
Seeing Eloise there just makes it even more real.
Sheâs terrified. Of Eloise, of whatâs going to happen- and Weaver almost calms her.
He gives her the slightest bit of hope and reassurance⌠until moody bollocks Rogers returns, that is.Â
And she sees the painting. And it makes sense.Â
Sheâs trying so hard to protect him. She cares and knows this woman can hurt him⌠and she dreads the thought of him getting hurt.Â
She now believes her bad feeling is tied to Rogers and Eloise.
But Rogers is too far into his own spiral to worry about Tilly or her warning.Â
He has no time whatsoever to deal with her.Â
Heâs become blind to any and all things around him that need his attention; he believes heâs making progress in getting information with Eloise and thatâs all heâs concerned about.Â
He canât see past his own mission to take note of those around him.
Much like the flashbacks, heâs letting his own pride an honour get in the way of something far more precious.
Tilly.Â
Right now, heâs not her friend or her father white knight⌠heâs a cop and sheâs getting in the way of him doing his job.
SWEET BABY CHILD- NO!
BUT LOOK AT HIS FACE.
HEâS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY SHOCKED⌠AND ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED SHEâS THERE.
Sheâs even got the weapon still in her hand and yet his gun is lowered.Â
Full fucking props to Rose cos she slays this scene.Â
The confusion, distress and out of her comfort zone is played to perfection.
No one knows how Tilly got there. Tilly doesnât even know.
Her spiral is a full on tornado now.
She tried to warn them, tried to help them but it was no use.Â
The bad finally happened and sheâs ended up right in the thick of it.
Notice heâs put the gun away.
Again, sheâs holding the weapon, waving it around, is emotionally unstable and becoming more erratic⌠and yet it seems as if he knows sheâs not responsible.Â
Either heâs sure she wonât hurt them or heâs sure she didnât do it in the first place, but either way heâs not got any intention of pointing it at her.
Could he finally be realising he ignored the signs?
Could it be dawning on him that he should have put his attention elsewhere rather than going on a wild goose chase?
Iâm not sure.. but it certainly feels like heâs struggling with something⌠as a cop and a friend.Â
He begins to apologise in hopes of calming her down and quite possibly because heâs genuinely sorry he pushed her away.
But itâs too little too late.
Her faith and confidence in them is gone and sheâs back to being alone.
She has to run.Â
