Along with Ageha’s abusive shout, I was released from the binding. 

Being unable to move even a single body part, I just stood there in the daze. 

Leon: Wh–what are you doing!?

Ageha: Piece of crap!

Ageha: So many times!

Leon: Guh…!?

Hubert: Princess…are you alright, Princess?

—Violette falls on the floor. 

Hubert: Violette!!

Asagi: Are you okay, Princess!

Uranami: We are done for it seems…

Hubert: It seems like a mere loss of consciousness…

Louis: The northern knight seems to be overly passionate. 

Orpheus: I– I hope she will be fine…?

Ageha: This jerk! He is the worst!!

Ghislain: Seems like the one who caused it has already fainted. 

Hubert: Let them do as they please. I will take care of the Princess. 

Tsumabeni: Need a hand?

Hubert: Nope. I will count on you for this place. 

Asagi: Understood. …You vile nemesis of our Princess!!

—Asagi runs up to them. 

Orpheus: Eh, Asagi…!

Asagi: I am giving you a hand too, lady Ageha!

Ageha: Heck yeah, there’s no going–easy! Make him drop dead!

In the midst of the aggressive chaos,  the sillness from a few hours before feels like a lie— —

But that voice, ever before I could fully process, keeps sinking further down and into the drowsiness…

Hubert: Your face rather seems quite conflicted, Princess. 

Violette: I believe it would rather seem abnormal to not be conflicted in this situation.

Following a few days since I collapsed during the knights reception ceremony, 

I make a visit to Hubert’s place to confirm the course of actions moving forward. 

Hubert: The knights have initiated dwelling smoothly after they were assigned their own residences. 

According to the Four-Butterflies, they're in good health, without any noticeable physical effects too. 

Violette: That…means everything but

Hubert: Speaking of which, there is one more thing to cover.

The northern knight who committed an unacceptable act towards you was bedridden up until yesterday. 

Violette: …!

Hubert: As soon as you ended up collapsing, Ageha and Asagi had taken strict disciplinary actions against him. 

No need to worry. As long he is alive, things will proceed forward. 

Violette: Is he in such a miserable state…?

Hubert: ……

Violette: ……

Hubert: Nope. The second he woke up, he was full of energy and Ageha said she couldn’t put up with how noisy he was. 

Violette: …Hey enough! I want you to quit playing around right there.

Hubert: If you have room in your heart for his well–being, then I believe you will be able to engage well with him moving forward. 

He is one of the knights too. It would be troublesome if you held an odd aversion towards him.

That situation was so abrupt that… I was floated with mayhem. 

Hubert: I agree. In this Parthedame, we don’t have anyone to commit such outrageous chaos against a princess bearing the title of Reine. 

But conversely, it is a mere proof of their identity as Seed–folks situated below us on the Earth— —

Not exclusive to the northern knight, moving forward as you will interact with them, you might face a lot of additional chaos.

I wonder if I can handle it well…to be honest, I am a little anxious. 

Hubert: Is that so? Nothing about these is difficult. What you should be worried about is deepening the bond with them.

In summary, you just need to get along with them. Easy stuff, right?

Hubert: Don’t sweat it. You are very beautiful, lovely and attractive in a way anybody would be drawn to you. You have my word. 

Violette: (I wonder why…I don’t find his words quite reliable at all…)

He has always been sweet towards me. I think it is sort of being biased towards one’s relatives. 

I have cautioned myself against the risks for falling into such appraisals. 

Hubert: Are you still anxious?

Violette: It would be a lie to say I am not anxious but…I just cannot keep avoiding it.

It is extremely important to earn the knights’ trust to fulfil my role as a Reine. 

Hubert: Absolutely. I knew that my princess is quite wise. 

You have merely met them. I suggest you get to know each other before anything. 

Perhaps for not having a fulfilling training period, each of them are holding on to elements of uncertainties.

Hubert: They must have a lot of unanswered questions regarding the Reine who will be directing them onward. 

You must also act with such awareness. To earn their trust, you cannot just keep showing a gentle face.

Letting out a sigh, I drop my gaze onto the invitation letters once again

Akane: Princess…what will you do? Will you accept their invitation?

Violette: …In one way or another, I will eventually need to heighten the amity with all of them.

It is okay by me to accept their invitation but…I need to think twice about who I will spend my time with. 

Since it is my very first time to come in touch with the people from land, everything feels like I am fumbling blindly. 

I don’t even know if I am capable of holding a conversation with them…therefore I will need to think through this cautiously. 

The long–closed shrine wrapped in dazzling radiance stays still in the quiet night. 

The stage is literally perfect for selecting those of who will be upholding the world henceforth. 

The heart I thought would have passed out completely for nervousness is now totally calm.

But now it is vivid that I am sitting on the throne as a Reine— —

Uranami: As you see, he is a man with no room for carelessness. You better be on your guard as well, Princess. 

Louis: First impression is crucial, which though is nevertheless said—no one willfully intends to be in bad–light. 

Whether Uranami’s judgement is fair or not, I want you princess to evaluate and verify it by yourself.

The compatibility seems quite strong between Uranami and him. You can sense ease between their witty communication. 

Hubert: It is your bad habit to make teasings out of everything, Uranami. If you are going to do it, take it to a private setting.

This is the knight Ghislain, coming from the eastern nation of Chrysantheme.

Beyond just sharp…almost threatening looks in his eyes, gives me chill down my spine.

The rest of the guardian knights also show caution in response to his flagrant hostility. 

However, on him to perch— no one other than Tsumabeni— steps into this tension without any pressure. 

Tsumabeni: Oi…Ghislain. 

Ghislain: You literally just said my name, didn’t you? There’s nothing more I need to say. 

Tsumabeni: …Is that so? So the people of Chrysantheme don’t mind being treated as mannerless lawless, huh?

It’s Ghislain. Though I am included as one of the knights in the list— —

Whoever of you are worthy of being entrusted with the Earth, I will decide. 

Don’t assume you can make me obey easily simply with some titles you are given.

Those words full of pure bitterness itself, stab deep into my heart. 

Tsumabeni held his head into his hands and the whole room froze.

Hubert: My my. Quite a spirited character. It will be an inspiring challenge for the princess as well.

As if to guard me from his gaze, Hubert steps forward, with his voice tinged in a smile.

But I am certain, Hubert is quietly furious.

On top of that, the eastern knight did not yield. His gaze did not falter even once.

Tsumabeni: …My apologies. That’s about it, you can move onto next. 

Hubert: You are right…Asagi, I am counting on you.

Coming from the western nation Villet, I present to you the knight Orpheus. 

Orpheus: Nice to meet you. My name is Orpheus, I am happy to be here.

While wondering to myself if I said it well, I greet them with a bow.

As I lift my head, the first person I make eye contact with is the knight of the north, Leon— whose actions seem strange. 

Violette: (Is he trembling…?)

With a bright–red face, he clenches his fists tightly, while his whole body shakes uncontrollably. 

…I wonder if he is nervous yet again.

Violette: Leon…I shall call? Are you doing okay…?

Leon: My…name…

Violette: The northern knight, Leon. Do you dislike being called that…?

He loses his patience and moves as I tilt my head hesitantly with confusion.

After placing everything in its order, the Goddess enters an ever–ending sleep, being a refugee within the Tree of Life. 

The will of the Goddess has been passed down on her vessel– “Reine” and the four knights—

Even to this day, the blessings are continued being sent to the surface world.

As the night falls, Enge and I head over to Huber’s mansion in order to attend the dinner party. 

Akane and Ruri are staying home this time. 

I expected some protest, but due to the commotion we had earlier, they readily agreed. 

Marionette: Welcome, you two. 

All the guests have already arrived. This way, please. 

Violette: Yeah, thank you. 

???: Princess, and Madame Enge. I have been eagerly waiting for you. 

Violette: Good Evening, Lord Bonheur.

Madame Enge: Have we arrived overly late?

Bon Bonheur: No, you have arrived just on time. It is the nature of lead roles to arrive at dinner parties late. 

This well-mannered gentleman is Lord Bon-Bonheur. He is a flower-born carrying the satsuma–mandarin flower-crest.

Belonging in Hubert’s mansion, he is the care-taker of all sorts of kitchen affairs. 

He always earns admiration from those around him through his passionate endeavor on gourmet cuisine and abundant knowledge.  

Bon Bonheur: All the invited guests are already present. You two please take a seat as well. 

Violette: You are right. Well please allow me—

After exchanging just enough greetings, we too proceed to sit in our designated chairs. 

Not long after, dazzling colorful cuisines were being served one after the other. 

Bon Bonheur: If this gathering celebration is for the long-awaited union, I am very sure there are many stories for us to unfold. 

May you not only enjoy the taste of the meals this evening but also savor the time of our togetherness as we dine. 

Now that the hors d'oeuvre are arranged neatly before all of us, I put my gaze in the path to everyone else. 

Violette: My gratitude especially for Hubert and Lord Bonheur for preparing this occasion.

It was fun seeing the way menus would totally vary throughout morning, noon and night.

In order to have a better understanding of the knights, I made it a point to experience the customs of seed–folks as best as possible.

Something benevolent Goddess Milène had created in order to restore the blessings into the Earth. 

At the heart of the land is the Tree of Life containing the mystical power called “Grâce.”

The Grâce was bestowed onto the Earth by the ruled “Reine,” who was sent as Goddess’s vessel—

To bring peace into the world is our mission. 

In order to obtain that, we need assistance from the chosen knights of the four nations in the land below. 

Violette: Grâce is sent into the nations through the knights’ bodies, right?

Hubert: Yes, exactly. The roles of the knights are so to speak, transmission. 

…But as all of you know, an unprecedented issue is arising in this generation. 

I have been informed about that issue from time being as well. 

After the previous Reine passed away, the Reine for the next generation was suppose to be born right after but— —

For some reason, the next generation’s Reine would not be born, forming a gap of several decades. 

And that reason is still appeared to be unknown. 

Hubert: —However, the long–waited Reine has come to take birth, at last. 

Violette: ……

I meet Hubert’s gaze to respond with a nod. 

Hubert: Our Reine has achieved growth steadily, and the flower–crest was able to select the knights as well. 

Ageha: Now begins our roles to take over.

Hubert: Yes. They were trained to be knights by the Four-Butterflies, guardians of the flower-crest.

Ageha: ...And that also means casting away the body forged by being seed-folk.

Violette: Because their body would need to absorb Grâce from the time being, right?

Hubert: Yes, after completely transforming into flower–borns, they will be admitted to Parthedame. 

And by forming a bond between the Reine and her vassals, the land will head towards tranquility——

Of all the four nations in Solvielle, it is the one pridefully containing the largest territory. 

The flower–crest which symbolizes the country is “Scarlet Peony.”

And the knight’s name is—Leon. 

I believe he turned 24. He is from one of the top two noble families in Pivoine.

Uranami: Heh, that is such an honorable title to have. 

Ageha: If you get carried out simply with “Nobility” then you may get betrayed down the line. 

His motivation is, ‘second to none,’ but…there are some handful of problems regarding him as well. 

Violette: Problems?

Hubert: I heard that he is not the guy flower–crest had chosen originally, right?

Violette: Not the guy you said…! How is it even allowed?

Ageha: No…for someone to run to be a knight outside of selection is something completely unheard of. 

At first no one sided with him…later on he would not just back down by keeping saying “No matter what.”

Ageha: And yet, Leon has preserved through the pain till the end. 

On the contrary the one who was selected gave up early on very promptly.

He is 22 years old. Apparently he is a son of the current King by a concubine.

Uranami: Yeah, both in terms of status and looks he is the kind of prince women dream about. 

I think if he is paired with you, it will be a great match. 

Asagi: …Instead of fussing around, finish your job first, Uranami. 

Uranami: How annoying, I was being really serious. 

Because it is totally possible for romance to bloom between a Reine and a knight.

As a soldier he is coming from a fairly reputable lineage family. His age is 20. 

He is so skilled that he has earned the title—“The Wrathful Blade of Chrysantheme.”

If we are just talking about physical strength, I would say he won’t lose to anybody. 

Uranami: …Yet again? Lord Tsumabeni, looks like you are destined to deal with such kind of folks. 

Violette: ? What do you mean by “again?”

Ageha: Hm? Oh that means— —

Tsumabeni: It is usual for guys with strong arms to be chosen from the Eastern knights.

I was in charge of the western country, “Villet.” Though not huge, it is a small country made out of exquisite islands. 

The flower–crest symbolizing the country is “Dianthus.”

The name of the knight is— “Orpheus.”

His origin is unknown. As for the age…he is probably around 19 years old.

Asagi: Brought up as an orphan, I believe he has been traveling around various places as a minstrel. 

Due to being self–sufficient at a young age, he is sociable with a good sense of decorum.

Tsumabeni: A self–made I see, huh…guys like that seem to have promising qualities. 

Asagi: …I wished that would be the case, but for now he still has an unreliable aspect which I am concerned with.

As their long-missed faces descended through the beam, I felt my shoulders lightened. 

It seems that the path reconnected to the land— after two years— has safely brought them back in here.
