Thesis: âJust months after the Defense Department lifted all gender-based restrictions on front-line combat units, a new debate over womenâs role in the United States military has reared its head.âÂ
Main argument: In order to completely irradiate the gender inequality, women need to be expected of the same things as men when it comes to the armed forces.Â
EVIDENCE:                                                          - defense policy bill                                                 - statements from Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, Marine Corps Commandant Gen. Robert Neller, former presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, and Army Basic Combat Training, 18-year-old Taylor Dein                   - highlights standards within the military and facts about the draft            -pregnancy is main unbiased problem
I think when it came down to the evidence used within this article, the idea of why so many people believe that sending âdaughtersâ into the military is immoral but not âsonsâ could be explored a little further. The most intriguing part was when the argument of any physically able person should register for the draft, because then the gender bias was taken out of the equation completely and it all came down to physical capability.Â
The main counter argument to the authors claim that all men and women should be held to the same standards within the military is, women hold the potential to get pregnant which in a structure such as the armed forces the loss of a member throws off the whole group dynamic.
