Both of them were broken, they had a one night stand and it ended in a pregnancy. (cliche sure but it’s also great)  He smiled when he find out they were having a girl. (first sign of caring right there) He dropped everything to go and search for her when she was attacked by Agnes and her witches. Even carrying her to the car saying “I got you, love.” (always gets me)  He realized how much the wolves meant to Hayley and helped her by getting them food and showed her that he had taken them to the church to protect them from the storm. He built a nursery so Hayley could live there with him and for them to be a family.  Both of them also have way more chemistry than like Elijah and Hayley. (I see no spark between them what’s so ever)(It’s actually quite strange to me)  Hayley also calls Klaus out on his bullshit and makes him a better person “Being weak doesn’t make you weak, Klaus.”  He’s walking up to her later, apologizing and telling her that he knows that she should leave him and he’s grateful that she hasn’t. He also says that he trusts her when leaving Hope with her friend. Or in season 4 when she puts him in place multiply times, telling him to shut up and take it easy with his family members. Also while Elijah puts her on a pedestal, thinking she can do no wrong, Klaus sees her for who she is and helps her embrace it. 

In season 3 they’re an absolute power couple when they’re on the hunt for the missing werewolves; Klaus both stays with Hayley when he knows his brothers needs him and they’re being a total bad ass couple when the alarm goes off and they fight off everyone coming their way. “Shall we?” “Ladies first.”  Or I season 5 when Klaus is talking to her memorial tree. Calling her beautiful, strong and that he wishes she was there to help him. And how incredibly mad he is at Elijah after the thing happened.  There’s also the fact that Hayley smiles at his jokes sometimes, sudden smiles whenever he’s being difficult (but cute) Like in season 3 when they’re looking through her stuff “Oh, sweet child of mine.” Or teasing Hayley for her karaoke carpool songs.  Then there’s also the fact that he calls her “Little wolf” and he doesn’t have a nickname for anyone else. And I’m weak for nicknames guys. AND when Lucien keeps her hostage he tells Klaus to kneel before him or he’ll hurt her and HE DOES. WHEN HAVE KLAUS MIKAELSON EVER KNEELED IN FRONT ON ANYONE ??? 

We went from “Kill her and the baby, what do I care?” to “I wish you were her so you could tell me what to do” and that’s development.
