Keith and Allura drabble from when I was watching season 3 I think
"The black lion never should've chosen me." he says abruptly.
"Keith, I'm sorry we couldn't continue to wait for Shiro's return, but-" Allura begins sympathetically.
"No, I meant..." Keith interjects, "Allura, it should've been you."
He meets her eyes, an intensity to it that she hadn't expected. She'd already been taken aback by what he'd said.
"Keith, the black lion made its choice. It didn't choose me." she says it matter-of-factly.
She'd never questioned the lions' choices, her faith in Voltron unwavering. Her faith in herself, however.....
"I still don't understand *why* though. You're a natural leader, your life force is tied to Voltron, and the team doesn't even want me to lead! You're the obvious choice."
"The paladins will follow you." she assures him.
"I'd follow you." he says, insistent, "Without hesitation, I'd follow you."
She looks touched, softening at this. At the insistence that it's not just a matter of wishing it was someone else in his place. He seems to withdraw a little, suddenly sheepish about it.
"I know the rest of the team would too." he adds, "They trust you. We all do."
"You haven't had much choice in the matter." she cracks a small smile, "I threw you all at Zarkon and it seems to have worked out for me so far."
His serious expression holds on a little longer, but he seems to shake it off for a moment to return the smile.
