currently crying thinking about azulin and gordi and their doomed siblinghood it actually makes me fucking sick LOL. like oh my god. while yes they are definitely separate people with their own differences, they define eachother, azulin using gordi to make himself look better, and gordi's resilient unconditional love being obvious every single time he goes to support azulin. the difference that matters most is the fact that gordi knew himself more than azulin knew himself. it's why gordi wasn't as susceptible to religious dogma whilst azulin was. it's why azulin did so much insane shit while gordi didn't. azulin was a more vulnerable man morally-speaking than gordi was. gordi's beliefs (treat others kindly if you wish to be treated the same) never changed, not once. azulin simply did what would have him be known as good. the thing that kills me most though is how i really, truly believe that azulin did love gordi. it's why he revealed his face to gordi so quickly when they reunited on the mountain top. he likely thought gordi was dead just as much as gordi likely thought azulin was dead. i don't deny whatsoever that i think azulin fucking loved gordi, that's his brother, his twin, the person he grew up alongside. of course he fucking loved him. but azulin is also a terrible person. an abusive, wishy-washy man who doesn't know how to treat anyone right because he doesn't know who he himself is.

actually. yeah. i do think azulin's upbringing wasn't great.

i swear on my life i've seen people who've said shit about how he was an evil child etc etc and it's just like What 😂 by the looks of things he was at most six and AT LEAST four. four years old minimum having made a mistake any child could make. and yes you may take into account that the action itself was intentional. it was. but the consequences were not considered in the mind of a kid just barely away from toddler age (depending on your definition of toddler). y'all will take a child reinventing the exact reason why PSAs and warning labels exist--children will be stupid, that's what kids do, they can be smart but without guidance they Will fuck up, clearly something azulin didn't fuckin' have--and use it as proof of him being a "sociopath with a long history of violence" (<-- actual exact wording i saw in a piece of fanart involving azulin and gordi). sociopathy isn't just a lack of empathy. and i don't think azulin lacks empathy (but that's a conversation for another post). but if you're going to argue that he is a sociopath, leave the emotionally neglected child possibly made into a therapist for his own father given that one scene where his father vents to him about the cheating while in a secluded boat where he couldn't get any comfort on the situation out of that argument.
