A new breeze brings about new beginnings. The last of that May lukewarm air blows away the dust from your hair and you're determined to let all your worries go along. That's what was repeated in your head as you set your right footβoh, always right foot first, the last thing you need now is for some foolish superstition to get the yarn in your brain knottedβbeyond the wide set of mahogany doors of the school. What a rich warm brown it was, still damped with last night's midnight rain. The slow morning behind them picks up to match the pace with which you are marching down the hall towards the office. Clock ticking, heels clicking against tiles, and the slow chatter of the staff all tap against your head like an overworked metronome sitting in the studio of an underground startup band working harder than anyone else.
You feel the metronome against your ear drums. Tempo picking up the pace by the second... Faster, faster, and faster, as you half zone out the introduction some staff you already forgot the name of is giving you. The clock ticks and ticks in the back of your head, aggressive and unforgiving, as you walk down the hall towards your classroom after the tour that nice unnamed coworker gave you.
You find yourself in front of your room. You watch your shoes lineup neatly beside each other before you look up, take a deep breath, and gather the courage to turn the knob.
"Good morning!" you hear before you manage to utter out the first syllable out of the gloss-lathered lips you made sure to pay extra attention to before leaving your walls this morning, "you must be the supply, right?"
Right. Familiar silver strands greet your eyes as you glance up to meet the owner of the voice.
"Oh. Sugawara...?"
"Been a while...Ms. L/n."
You're due for a long month at this new job before summer break hits.
A/n: Suga smau series that I hope to work on during the time im off!! It will be both written and SMAU portions, but more heavily focused on the SMAU portions. I have no plot in stone but we roll as we go. Hopefully this gets me back on writing and this account.
