It's D-Day.

Not a day of joy, for many lives were lost, but a day of victory for both Axis and Allies in that it brought us all closer to the end of the war and toward the brighter future it promised. Every lost life was a family without a father and brother, and someone whose individual light would not shine in the post-war years.

It’s a day of remembrance, of gratitude, and of solemn respect. And in the victory, take joy. But as a day, don’t wish me a happy D-Day. The day was one of horrors nobody should ever be called to endure, and a day many families will still recall one of their numbers extinguished. Please respect that.
