my most Millennial trait is that i want big screen to think properly. to compose my thoughts. app exists for your thing but no website? bad bad bad not good for think, need big screen for think. i wrote this post on the small screen btw
The good news is after a second Sunday of cleaning, the new place is finally clean enough to start moving into.
The bad news is that the cleaning absolutely exhausted me in ways I haven't felt in quite awhile and I still have to go to work. I can't even take any days off this week as my coworker is on PTO and god knows almost everything is going to end up falling on my plate, and I need to save my scant remaining PTO for at least 2 or 3 days later this month for the actual move and if this AC guy ever gets back to me on a quote and availability.
i think people really under sell the physical side effects of mental health disorders sometimes. like sure the depression and anxiety may be 'just in your head' but when what's in your head happens to disrupts your sleep schedule and prevent you from going outside regularly and eating consistent meals and exercising and generally taking care of your body. well it sure takes its toll huh.

Sometimes you are in a conversation and suddenly you remember that you are so incredibly queer compared to the other people in the conversation.
It is that time in the morning again where I seriously contemplate taking the rest of the week off.
Alas I don't have the PTO for that right now, well I sort of do but I know I'm going to need at least 2 or 3 days in August so I can actually take care of errands. So yeah I don't really have the flexibility right now even though I feel my body starting to get sick, I've been oversleeping and having to get Ubers (this is also because the stupid train is shuttle buses these past few weeks though), and this amount of exhaustion and stress is starting to feel similar to right before I crashed the fuck out in 2020.
The good thing is I've already drawn some boundaries at work so I don't take on any big new tasks in the next week or so. The bad thing is that next week my coworker is going on vacation (again) which means her stuff for that week is getting dumped on me. Despite my past attempts of only following up on things that are urgent when she's gone, this is still happening. At least now there's another one of my position that can take on the little tasks that pop up.
At this point just taking the month's severance the company is saying they'll offer us if we don't find another position before the end of this transition period is sounding like a better option than stressing myself out to apply to things. But I'm also in the thick of exhaustion right now so I'll probably reevaluate this when I'm not as tired.
camera shutters kind of sound like taking a bite of a crisp apple because a camera takes a bite of the light in the air
Crazy how much a good dusting and sweeping cleans up a place.
Update: the delivery of the mop and step stool apparently was slated for sometime between 8pm and 10pm.
I said fuck that and finished up the room I was cleaning and will have to come back tomorrow after work.
Guess I better write this one down in the "even if people offer and give help, it ends up becoming a bigger problem than if I just did it myself" notebook. And my therapists wonder why I insist on doing everything that doesn't truly need another person by myself. Pretty much every time it just ends up being more of a problem. I'm just so tired of the ball being dropped every time I throw it to someone else.

Maybe one reason time seems to speed up in adult life is because when your full time job leaves you roughly 5 hours of free time a day plus two days off a week your life turns into a sort of monotony that makes the days blend together and creative pursuits move in slow motion as you can only get to them when other your commitments are done.
When you look back and think damn 2019 wasn’t that long ago where did the time go? Job. Your Job took it.
Crazy how much a good dusting and sweeping cleans up a place.
Decided to browse the first day of the weekend long craft/music festival on my way back from work and the open queer joy and punk and resistance art, clothing, jewelry etc etc healed a part of my soul today.
So last night, my partner played quite a bit through the main quest update for Infinity Nikki, and we spent nearly all of it yelling our heads off lmfao. Did we call the ritual sacrifice and the Soylent Greenification of the shroomlings? Absolutely, and the fondue roller coaster of doom segment made me more stressed than the Siege of fucking Weisshaupt and we were screaming the entire time. Did we call the, and I counted, septuple-agency of Angert, the sketchiest fucker in Itzaland? Well yes but actually no, because we just assumed he was a regular triple/quadruple agent who freed us to gain our trust and lead us into the real trap, which he was, but then there's like four more layers to his espionage! And his sacrifice made us cry! And they depicted him being physically abused by his parent as an adult! Which I thought was going to happen earlier in the scene, and then the slap I instictively expected didn't come and I was like "oh, duh, this isn't a tv show, this cottage-core ass dress-up game isn't going to have a grown man slap his grown-man child in the face, that'd be insane lol" and then they fucking did!
And then Infinity Nikki said #KillYourAbuser2026 so game of the year imo.

So with less than 24 hours notice our full team across the 2 sites got an email saying that the general manager of the account (at least 4 levels above my boss, basically the exec in charge of the entire customer account) is coming on site.
Guess we're finding out whether we'll have positions past the end of the year tomorrow.
Honestly not sure whether it'll be good or bad news. My pessimistic side that's seen so many horror stories on social media and from some of my older past coworkers has me doubting it's good. But then again why would the general manager of the account actually fly out for bad news instead of just doing a meeting? (The answer is probably that he's actually a somewhat decent person from when I've interacted with him last time he visited the site when prepping for the whole contract renewal thing)
There's a gauntlet of reactions:
The one coworker who's not my boss who's also older than me is entirely pessimistic. Understandable.
The new hire is mostly shrugging her shoulders and if we don't get the renewal she's going to take it as a sign to move to another city and experience something new. I get the feeling, I was like that back then too (she's 24-25).
I can't get a read on the two coworkers who are men. I think they're a regular amount of anxious that comes with the whole contract renewal process and how little power us at the bottom have. But ultimately they're both pragmatic and probably would see if they could get hired on to the other company's team if we don't get the renewal or transfer to a different account in the area.
The women coworkers who do the other role at the sites are the normal amount of nervous from what I can see. One is currently having the company pay for her MBA so her top priority if we lose the renewal would probably be to transfer to a different account that we support. Not sure of the logistics on that one. The other one I don't know very well since she's at the other site but she's good at her job and would probably also look for a transfer.
My boss is very anxious but is putting up a brave front. I get it, this region is kind of her entire creation that she finally has fully staffed and starting to smooth out all the bumps that came when our client moved their employees from another site to the New England region.
My coworker in my position is anxiety incarnate about this. Honestly she cares too much and I hope she's stable enough in the head to not take it personally if we don't get the renewal. I've been in a similar position before and it drove me to some of the worst months of my life from the immense damage I inflicted upon myself because I took everything like it was a blight against my entire self image. It's not a fun thing to witness from the other side, but I'm trying not to let projection distort my view. But yeah it's a bit insufferable, and I know she means well, but my god it's a lot.
As for me? Honestly good riddance. I like this job better than the last (mostly because everyone on the team is easy to get along with), but I think I need to find a job that isn't customer service. Or at least one where I either actually have power to do the things I need to do (including telling people to fuck off with the ridiculous requests) or be able to reduce my working hours. I can't keep doing this for 40 hours a week. But ideally it needs to be something that isn't customer service. I'm so drained every day due to having to interact with so many people on top of having to go on site every day. But on the other hand, I kind of need a steady income right now. What a horrible cycle to be trapped in.
So yeah guess we'll learn our fate tomorrow. Either way I need a vacation that far exceeds the amount of PTO I have left.
Guess it's time to update my resume 😒
