A couple years ago, several of my friends had tried doing breedings, and making submissions for the faux box, and would either get rejected or, in the case of the breedings, be told they had to make fixes (almost an entire year after the pet was uploaded and breeding mistake fixes requested, even) for details that don’t even stick out all that much.

And now, what you’re trying to tell ME, is that THIS

is acceptable and doesn’t have any clear mistakes, despite the person requesting the fix spelling out what’s wrong with the markings..

I’d be a little more sympathetic if the artist was a beginner (and they could be, but I don’t know who the artist is) and if they tried to fix the pet, but you’re not even passing it on to them to fix it.

Also? While this is referring to pixellation caused by overlay, pixellation in the image IS LITERALLY THE FIRST LISTED EXAMPLE OF A MISTAKE IN THE FIRST POST OF THE BREEDING THREAD.

A lot of people have talked about how slowly some things are ran on Aywas- it really is a problem, and I’ve experienced it myself, but it usually doesn’t bother me so much. Honestly, I’m here to talk about the incredibly obvious favoritism towards particular artists that Aywas displays.

First up, let me talk about my friend, Ringor Mortis. Rin’s body of work on Aywas included some Eggnog breedings, a handful of Faux sets, and a bit of MDT + GCC work. I… haven’t seen anyone complain much about the Fauxes and MDT/GCC stuff, but when they did Eggnogs in late 2015/early 2016, their work got some nasty comments (I can’t find the post, but someone had literally said “[their art is]…downright ugly and repugnant…”). Not only that, but over ten months later, the mods suddenly demanded that Rin do breeding fixes on some of the eggnog babies?

Special notice to the little note at the end of the mod PM - thanks for telling your artist that someone had outright deleted the eggnog they made, I guess.

Next up, while it’s still maybe a bit fresh on everyone’s minds, I’m gonna remind you guys: you harrassed Lubird out of PBC because they wanted to spend less time on their shading for what it was being paid? That’s really not something worth harrassing someone out of the community for. Come on. Don’t tell artists not to be greedy or selfish or whatever when they’re just trying to make a living and the work they’re doing is objectively being underpaid.

Especially don’t do that if you’re making an exception for the artists you like more. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I didn’t see a SINGLE complaint when Pathos/Snaphound drastically simplified his art style, specifically so he could make PBCs faster? Speaking of which, anyone remember when he made a site kernal and it was flipped the wrong way, and uh, it actually got accepted like that and wasn’t fixed for a little while? That was silly. It’s silly that the staff is so eager to jump on his art like that, while simultaneously dragging their feet on telling Rin that their lineart is too “pixellated”.

I’m also still mad about something regarding Pathos and an aywas skype group a few years ago, but I don’t know that I want to get into the details because I’m willing to bet talking about it would get me in trouble onsite, even though as far as I can tell Pathos never got punished by the site mods for it, gee i wonder why~ (don’t come at me with hot takes about callout culture or anything regarding this, i’m super disinterested in hearing anyone else defend him. i already was personal witness to three users defending him by way of threatening to call out a confused kid when this Event happened, i don’t need anyone else actively proving that they’re garbage.)

There’s also a lot of other random bits of ~drama~ that I’ve seen that, were, never actually resolved in any way… how many times have we seen users being casually racist or ableist, and how many times have we seen someone call them out and then get beat down for “causing drama” or whatever god just writing this paragraph made me really tired, i’m done with this, i’m out.

1. Okay. Let me start by saying, you’re right. The old drama(warning for discussion of pedophilia) I’d referred to in my OP was something the staff aren’t supposed to do anything about, especially since it took place in a Skype chat and not on-site. I’m just mad over someone’s “opinion” that, depending on what you’re willing to believe, may or may not have pretty harmful consequences to hold. I personally fall on the side of it being a harmful opinion... and since that’s how I view this, it’s not something I’m really willing to “agree to disagree” on.

So, since the staff aren’t supposed to do anything about a user starting an argument about a controversial topic (when there was no clear reason for him to do so btw, which leads me to theorize that he felt the need to get defensive for some reason nobody else will admit), the responsibility then falls to the community. And he was kicked out of that chat, but, that’s all that really happened... aside from the person who posted about it also getting kicked out of that chat.

So, that was two people taking action. Everyone else largely chose to sweep the incident under the rug as much as possible, to the point of threatening a minor into silence for the crime of publicly asking what happened. What was the point of doing this, if you aren’t going to admit that you agree with what Pathos had said? You don’t get to hide behind a barrier of “I don’t agree with them but I’ll defend their right to say it” when you’re only defending one side. (btw, sorry that’s in plain text rather than screencaps, i miiiiiight still be able to get screencaps but i highly doubt it.)

It is my opinion that the community failed to deal with the situation in a mature and responsible manner, and has failed to keep the community safe for minors, and I’m REALLY frustrated that bringing this up is going to make me look like the immature one here. I’m also mad that I’m bringing this up now, rather than when it was relevant, because I was afraid of getting chased out of the community for it, and now you’re going to use this, again, to make me look bad.

(and so it’s clear: I AM aware that the things I’m mad about are mainly the fault of a handful of people, but I know that for every person that has acted in a way that disgusts me, there are multiple other people who silently agree or think this behavior is okay- and I don’t know how many people that is, or who they are. I’m left to believe it could be anyone who hasn’t vocally taken the same stance I have.)

2. yeah, a lot of artists change styles, but my point was that lubird tried to change their style in a small way and got chastised for it. It didn’t even look that different from their “old” style, it was just a shading change.

3-4. Yeah, okay. There’s nothing I can really find wrong with any of this.

5. “Drama happens because people create drama.” Well, yeah. Nobody needed to treat my friends like hot trash, but they did. Pathos didn’t need to jump into a conversation to try to argue in favor of something disgusting, but he did. It wasn’t necessary to threaten an already-scared minor because their behavior was apparently easy to misconstrue as a malicious attack against another artist’s reputation??? BUT YOU GUYS DID IT ANYWAY, and when you create drama, you need to resolve it, or else people who remember will still be mad that nothing got fixed.

I’m just... not interested in leaving quietly. I don’t care about drama or “muckraking” or whatever stupid terms you want to use for it. I care about making sure you guys don’t think I’m okay with what you did. Maybe somebody might learn from this, and that’s the positive impact I want to make... but knowing this community, that probably won’t happen.
