hey also just a quick post to say that while we’re celebrating Pride month we need to remember and honour the victims of last year’s Pulse attack. on June 12th it’ll be a year since it happened, and i haven’t seen any posts about it on my dash yet and i feel like it’s important to talk about it

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you go from seeing Keith as boring to liking him more? You saw him as the “cool loner guy” in season one, but I assume that’s changed a little for you now? What gave him depth in your eyes?
more screen time, for starters. keith didn’t really have a lot in season 1. he barely had a personality in my eyes and i knew next to nothing about him. he got much more interesting when the galra heritage plot line came into play in season 2, but here’s the thing. keith isn’t interesting because he’s part galra. he’s interesting because of how he reacted to it. the way keith reacts to the events of the show is the most compelling part of his character to me. it tells us so much about him, and in that sense, he’s the most emotionally complex character in the show and that’s what makes him feel so relatable and alive. ultimately, that’s what got me more invested in keith.
So this is the end. Personally, this coming VLD season 6 is the last season that I’d worked on at Team Voltron. I loved the show dearly. I remember it was a bit emotional to work on my last episode. 😂 Anyways, I directed 2 episodes this season. (HINT:pics) I hope you enjoy them!

the exception here is shiro, who is actually such a good actor im surprised ive never seen anyone else mention it. ideal candidate for going on double agent spy missions.
on a more meta note, maybe this whole concept of “kuro” haggar conjures is so frightening because in prison there were occasions where he had to be the bad guy. even if it was just acting to get by, on some subconscious level, i think he still knows he played the part well. and it scares him

Okay I’ve spent like ten minutes thinking about this and googling tropes and I’m looking at all of them and I’m like “No I could take a shot at these.” I guess I’m a trope loving fuck.
For now I guess I’ll just say I’ll never touch all the really fanon anti-canon ideas, like Black Paladin Lance, Blue Paladin Keith, Greasy Keith, Broganes, trans/nb pidge, and Altean Lance&Galra Keith, or Galra Puberty thats really just an excuse to make Keith bara. Either because these ideas are very ooc, go against canon, are generally bad characterization, and are just don’t make sense. some of these have become big sore spots, become offensive, or have even gotten really disrespectful to both the characters, and the creators who made it all.

9-Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
I really love Krolias episode, Keiths BOM trial, s2e1, and tbh, The entirety of Season 1 is like. The happy place, haha.
But nothing really inspires me more than other people in the fandom.
I’m really not a very original person, I don’t think. I’m not good at making up new things on my own, and lots of times not even canon does it. But seeing a live human being become excited? Seeing their ideas, and their work, and their art and their writing-- THAT is what always makes me want to create. That is what always makes me want to jump in and join them and create with them, and be a part of it all. For me, it’s always been about fandom, and about the people in it.

when i was 16 I thought I would be obsessed with naruto and sasuke for ever and lol that didn’t happen. I thought the same with the next fandom and the next fandom, and the next and the next. if i had to pick one pairing to write for the rest of my life id get bored and stop and itd be very sad.

when i was fifteen i went to a purple heart ceremony. it wasn’t the first one i went to. it wouldn’t be the last, either. something they don’t tell you about these ceremonies is that they line the recipients up, like a receiving line at a funeral, and then they recount a story that too often includes the people who did not make it.
these ceremonies are always hard. this was the hardest.
one kid, a sargeant, couldn’t have been more than twenty-four. he’d lost a leg. he’d gotten scars on his face from shrapnel. he’d lost the fiancée who took one look at him and decided he wasn’t the man she agreed to marry anymore.
traditionally you go down the line and shake each person’s hand. i tried to do that. but i got to him. he’d been handsome, i could tell, and once the scarring turned less red he’d probably be handsome again. no one at the ceremony was there for him. all he’d had was the woman who left. so i hugged him. because that’s all i could offer up that might mean something.
the thing is i don’t know what happened to him. i hope he found love again. i hope someone saw that he was brave, and strong, and handsome. i hope he is not one of the ones who never really made it home from the war.
look. i can’t speak eloquently to the racial aspect of sexualizing shiro. for that, check out lia’s breakdown. but i lived most of my life surrounded by men disabled and scarred and traumatized by war. men whose lovers, fiancées, and wives left them. men who no longer saw themselves as desirable or even loveable. men who, in the eyes of the civilian world, were broken.
shiro has lost a limb, has heavy scarring, has rampant PTSD. shiro is an echo of all the men i grew up with. and shiro is loved, desired, saved.
ten years ago, when i was fifteen, i met a sargeant who needed shiro.
